JD.com founder Liu Qiangdong made waves on Chinese social media last weekend after a user shared photos of the billionaire personally delivering a takeout order.

JD.com confirmed the authenticity of the delivery, stating, "We thank the public for their attention and support of JD's delivery services." The recipient, Yin, later told media he had ordered Hunan cuisine from a local restaurant near his Beijing residence.
"Mr Liu handed me the order with both hands and said, 'Enjoy your meal.'" Yin went on to emphasize that he was "not a JD employee, not a paid promoter and definitely didn't receive any money for this".
The viral moment unfolded alongside a bitter public clash between JD.com and rival Meituan. Earlier on Monday, JD published an open letter accusing unnamed competitors of imposing policies that allegedly bar delivery riders from accepting orders from JD's service.
In a sharp rebuttal late Sunday, Meituan released a statement denying allegations of restricting riders' multi-platform work. The statement further accused JD of pressuring merchants to fund 30-50 percent of customer discounts, costing up to 10 yuan per order. "Many merchants have voluntarily reduced JD orders due to these burdensome requirements," Meituan claimed.
