Dead to Rights, a film set during the Nanjing Massacre, has earned over 400 million yuan in its first three days since its release on Friday. The film dominated daily charts and set the best opening-day record for a war film in the summer season over the past three years.

The Nanjing Massacre occurred when Japanese troops captured Nanjing on Dec 13, 1937. Over the course of six weeks, they slaughtered around 300,000 Chinese civilians and unarmed soldiers.
