A social media post has gone viral after a high-speed rail passenger reported being unable to sit comfortably in a second-class seat because their neighbor — estimated to weigh around 400 jin (about 200 kilograms) — occupied excessive space. The passenger questioned why railway authorities do not take body-size differences into account when selling tickets.
网友发布的图片显示，其座位旁确有一名体型宽大的男乘客。该网友表示，因邻座体型占据空间，自己难以正常使用座位，认为二等座售票应兼顾体型因素。
Photos shared online showed a visibly large man seated next to the complainant. According to the post, the neighbor's size encroached on their seat, leaving them with little room, and raising the argument that ticketing policies for second-class seats should better address such situations.
此话题引发众多网友共鸣，有人分享类似经历：曾因邻座占用空间而被迫抬起扶手；在三人座中间位时，被两侧体型宽大的乘客挤占；甚至邻座占用其座位三分之二空间，完全无法正常乘坐。对此，部分网友建议受影响乘客及时联系乘务员协调换座，认为“体型较大的乘客也有权乘坐公共交通”，换座是更务实的解决方式。
The complaint quickly sparked discussion online, with many netizens recounting similar experiences of cramped seating. Some called for improved seating arrangements, while others stressed that larger passengers have equal rights and suggested that affected travelers should seek assistance from train staff to change seats.
8月16日，经视直播记者尝试联系事件发布者，但未获回应。之后，记者以乘客身份咨询中国铁路12306客服。工作人员表示，若在列车上遇邻座体型宽大致空间拥挤，可第一时间向列车工作人员反映，协商调换座位。工作人员可通过手持终端实时查看座位预订及乘车信息，便于协调。但若列车满员或无空座，可能无法调换，乘客需暂时克服。
对于“能否避免体型差异大的乘客相邻就坐”的改进建议，客服坦言，目前购票系统按身份证号分配座位，无法提前获知乘客体型，暂无针对性改进办法。
A staff member from China Railway's 12306 hotline suggested that passengers may report such issues to the onboard crew, who can check seat availability in real time and attempt to arrange a swap. However, if the train is fully booked, reassignment may not be possible. As for preventing mismatched seating, customer service noted that the ticketing system assigns seats solely based on ID information and cannot account for body size.
