A 20-year-old Chinese female student studying in Russia has been missing for over 100 hours, prompting urgent searches by her family, friends and relevant authorities.
According to posts circulating on social platforms on November 3, the student, surnamed Zhang, lost contact with her family on the afternoon of October 31.
Her father, Mr. Zhang, confirmed on the morning of November 4 that local police have filed a case and the Consulate General of China in St. Petersburg has intervened in the search efforts.
According to her father, Zhang is a freshman majoring in Psychological Education at Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia. She departed her home in China on October 14 and arrived in Russia on October 16. Before her disappearance, she was frequently in touch with her father over the phone but appeared to be in low spirits.
Witnesses reported her last known location was near the university's teaching building.
Described as 176-178cm tall with a slim build, she has straight brownish-yellow hair and wears dark brown glasses. At the time of her disappearance, she was dressed in a dark down jacket and a women's shirt.
Mr. Zhang revealed that her residence has been checked—her passport remains in the room, but she and her mobile phone are missing. A source close to the matter added that Zhang's classmates noticed she had been emotionally distressed in the days prior and had expressed negative thoughts.
The family is appealing for public assistance in sharing information and providing clues to help locate the missing student.
