A recent incident involving several foreign men ignoring safety rules at the Shimenjian Scenic Area in Lushan, Jiangxi, has sparked widespread anger on Chinese social media.
According to online reports, the men disregarded a clearly posted “No Swimming” warning sign, took off their clothes, and bathed in the “Love Pool” at the scenic site. They were also seen using life rings as toys and leaving behind items such as soap boxes.
After the footage went viral, many netizens expressed outrage, with some claiming the three individuals appeared to be from India based on their features.
On November 15, the Shimenjian Scenic Area issued a statement and an apology. The management clarified that the footage was taken in April 2025 but was only recently uploaded.
The scenic area said it is now strengthening standardized management, improving service quality, and enhancing daily patrols and mechanisms to stop violations.
The statement concluded with an apology for management lapses and a call for all visitors to follow the rules, behave responsibly, and help protect the safety and environment of the scenic spot.
