At AISG, the strength of our community lies in the partnerships we build. From classrooms to committees, from reading corners to boardrooms, caregivers help shape the learning journey every step of the way.

In the Classroom

In our Early Years, monthly BEAR Day (Be Excited About Reading) brings caregivers into classrooms to share stories and foster a love of literacy.

Kindergarten teacher Ruan Cloete reflects: “It sounds small, but it reminds us that learning happens in relationships, with joy, with trust, with family.”

Whether reading, crafting, or leading cultural traditions like Lunar New Year dumpling-making, caregivers help bring learning to life, showing children that home and school are connected, and their families are part of the journey.

In the Community

Caregivers also enrich units of study through field trips, end-of-unit exhibitions, and community connections like role-play interviews and expert talks.

Mr Cloete adds, “As educators, we should seize every opportunity to engage families in their child’s learning journey, which enhances students' experiences. These opportunities build trust and relationships between the teacher and caregivers. As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child.”

In Leadership

AISG is proud to be a not-for-profit school where families play a meaningful role in shaping strategy and governance. Serving on the Board of Directors or through the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), caregivers bring diverse perspectives and deep commitment to strengthening the school.

As Board Member and caregiver Cory Reinhart shared, “It is rewarding to work collaboratively with the board, the School Director and the executive team who are committed to AISG and ensuring we deliver on the promises of the school’s mission and vision every day.”

For caregivers, especially those new to Guangzhou or navigating a new language and culture, AISG is an inclusive, diverse and welcoming community. Because when we build bridges between home and school, we create a community where every child belongs, every family feels valued, and every voice matters.

深耕课堂

在我们的幼儿园，每月一次的 “BEAR日”（全称 Be Excited About Reading，意为 “享受阅读，乐在其中”）邀请家长们走进教室，通过分享故事，培养孩子对阅读的热爱。

幼儿园教师Ruan Cloete分享道：“这看似微小，却提醒着我们：学习发生在人际关系中，伴随着快乐、信任与家人的参与。”

Cloete教师补充道：“作为教育者，我们应抓住每一个机会让家庭参与孩子的学习之旅。这不仅能极大丰富学生的体验，还能增进教师与家长之间的信任与联结。正如那句谚语所说：养育一个孩子，需要整个社区的共同努力。”

共担领导力

AISG作为一所非营利性学校，我们深感自豪的一点是，家庭在学校战略制定与管理中扮演着重要角色。家长既可以加入校董会，也能通过家委会（PTA）贡献力量，用多元视角与坚定投入，助力学校不断成长。
