YUSEN Logistics Russia has been tasked by General Motors DAT/CIS to provide final mile inbound delivery services in Russia, with the third-party logistics firm (3PL) delivering parts for Opel, Chevrolet and Cadillac.
The service handles the movement of GM Korea and SPOI containers to the Moscow or the Yekaterinburg Parts Distribution Centres (PDC) from the Port of St Petersburg.
In addition, Yusen will handle storage of non-bonded containers at the container yard, the movement of GM UZ containers arriving by rail at the Moscow PDC and the carriage of Korean rail freight to the Yekaterinburg PDC, reported the American Journal of Transportation.
This contract builds on the NYK's logistics unit previous experience working with GM that commenced in 2011 with warehousing operations at St Petersburg for General Motors Auto.
In 2013 the operations were expanded to include ex-works transportation services from Thailand to Moscow via St Petersburg for General Motors CIS.
Commercial director of Yusen Logistics Russia, Dennis Pastukhov said, "We are delighted about the award of this business by GM. This builds on the relationship between our two companies that has been developing since 2011."
