We are looking for two people to join our busy and dynamic Public Affairs Team at the New Zealand Embassy in Beijing.

POSITION: PUBLIC AFFAIRS ADVISER (SOCIAL MEDIA)

The Public Affairs Adviser (Social Media) will be responsible for managing the New Zealand Embassy’s social media channels, developing social media content and delivering digital communications activities on our social media channels. The Adviser also has responsibility, in coordination with policy teams, for monitoring and analysing traditional and social media in China.

You will need:

A relevant tertiary qualification, preferably in journalism, marketing, graphic design or communications.

Relevant experience in digital content creation, social media management and digital campaign implementation.

Proficiency in filming and editing both images and video, including using professional cameras, lighting and audio equipment.

Deep knowledge of social media environment and trends and competence in using both Chinese and western social media platforms.

Professional fluency in both Chinese and English, both written and verbal.

Strong media research and analytical skills, familiarity with analytical products, capable of producing regular research and reports.

Starting Salary230,000 RMB, negotiable depending on experience.

POSITION: PUBLIC AFFAIRS ADVISER (MEDIA & STAKEHOLDER RELATIONS AND EVENT MANAGEMENT)

The Public Affairs Adviser (Media & Stakeholder Relations and Event Management) role is to promote and raise the awareness of New Zealand in the Chinese media and general public through media engagement and the organisation of cultural activities, events associated with senior visits and other key Embassy activities and cross-Government initiatives. The Adviser will be responsible for ensuring a strategic approach to planning and delivery of effective communication with audiences and key stakeholders across relevant channels; and provide specialist advice to the wider Ministry on media engagement and communication strategies, relevant to China.

You will need:

A relevant tertiary qualification, preferably communications-based.

Demonstrated experience in one of the following: communications, public relations, event management or journalism.

Demonstrated expertise in communications service delivery with an excellent knowledge of communications practice

Demonstrated knowledge of Chinese media environment and experience in dealing with Chinese media organisations and individuals

Professional fluency in both Chinese and English, both written and verbal

Demonstrated experience in project or event management, including working within a budget and problem-solving

Knowledge of Chinese arts and cultural scene is desirable

Starting Salary: 284,506 RMB, negotiable depending on experience.
