Miyeli Lee is an accomplished attorney from South Korea with over ten years of experience in compliance, litigation, and cross-border legal advisory. She holds law degrees from Yonsei University and Sungkyunkwan University, and is licensed both as a Korean attorney and patent attorney. Now, she’s pursuing the FMBA FT+ at Fudan University — transitioning from law to finance, and building a bridge between East Asia and the world.

Hello, my name is Miyeli Lee, and I'm from South Korea. I graduated from Yonsei University with a law degree. I have been practicing as a lawyer in Korea for about ten years. It is this extensive professional experience and my desire for further growth that motivated me to join this outstanding program, which is why I am here today.

To be honest, coming from a legal background, every subject feels new and challenging. But what I find most helpful is that our professors and TAs are always approachable and willing to explain concepts step by step. "Statistics and Decision Making" left a particularly strong impression on me. It's undoubtedly challenging, but it pushed me to think in a completely new way and revolutionized my perspective.

坦白说，作为法学背景的学生，每门课对我而言都是崭新的挑战。但真正让我受益的是，教授和助教们总是乐于解答问题，并愿意一步步耐心讲解。其中，《统计和决策》这门课让我印象尤为深刻。虽然理解起来确实有难度，但它彻底颠覆了我以往的思维方式，推动我用全新的视角思考问题。

How do you like the campus life at Fudan?

I live in the international student dormitory and really appreciate the secure environment – access is restricted to outsiders. The room is simple, but as a single room, it gives me my own private space. There are many cafeterias on campus, each offering a variety of food, and honestly, almost everything is cheaper compared to Korea. The campus is so big that I bike to class every morning – it's become a new part of my daily routine.

我住在留学生公寓，这里给我的第一印象就是特别安全，进出都有管理，让人很安心。我住的是单人间，简单温馨，也保留了属于我的私人空间。校园里食堂选择特别多，我几乎可以每天换着花样吃；而且对比下来，这里的餐饮性价比确实比韩国要高。另一个有趣的变化是，因为校园实在太大，我现在每天都骑自行车去上课——这段晨间骑行不知不觉已经成了我在复旦的新习惯。

You see people from all over the world here, and the city itself has a welcoming, international vibe. People are generally very kind, and there are events, gatherings, or parties happening almost every week. Living here feels like exploring a new side of the city every weekend. About one-third of my classmates are international students, and I've grown very close to many of them. At the same time, I've built strong friendships with my Chinese classmates. We don't just study together; we share language, culture, and day-to-day life, which makes the whole experience much more meaningful.

在这里，外国面孔随处可见，整个城市都充满开放包容的氛围。大家都很友善，几乎每周都有各种活动、聚会。在这里生活，每个周末都像是在探索这座城市崭新的一面。我们班里大约三分之一的同学来自海外，我和其中很多人建立了深厚的友谊。同时，我也和中国同学们情谊甚笃。我们不仅一起学习，更分享着彼此的语言、文化和日常生活，这让我的留学经历变得格外有意义。

What excites you most about living and studying in Shanghai — China’s global financial hub?

What excites me most is that wherever I go, I see the headquarters of world-leading companies right before my eyes. Walking through the city feels like stepping into the future of global business. Shanghai has shown me just how many different versions of a successful life there can be. I see people from all over the world building their futures here, each in their own unique way. It reinforces my belief that there is no single definition of success.

最让我兴奋的是，无论走到哪里，我都能亲眼目睹全球顶尖企业的总部矗立眼前。漫步在这座城市，就仿佛漫步于全球商业的未来图景之中。上海让我认识到，成功的人生可以有如此多样的形态。我看到来自世界各地的人们，以各自的方式在这里构筑未来。这让我深信，成功的定义从来不是唯一的。

Over the next two years, I hope to grow into someone who can genuinely bridge the worlds of law and finance. I don't just want to understand both fields – I want to integrate them and create real value in global business. This journey is not just a new chapter for me, but a path to becoming a professional who can connect different worlds. Shanghai has introduced me to friends from so many countries and brought me closer to my mainland Chinese classmates. Through them, I've realized that the local culture is much deeper and more diverse than I had perceived from the outside. All of this is helping me broaden my mindset, as well as my cultural and intellectual horizons.

我希望在接下来的两年里，成长为能够真正连接法律与金融的桥梁型人才。我不仅想要理解这两个领域，更希望将它们融会贯通，为全球商业创造真正的价值。这段经历对我而言，不仅是人生的新篇章，更是一条通往成为连接不同世界的专业精英的道路。上海让我结识了来自众多国家的朋友，也让我与中国同学们走得更近。通过他们，我意识到这里的文化远比我从外部看到的更加深厚与多元。这一切都在帮助我不断拓展自己的思维、文化和知识边界。
