Hope in Action: BSG celebrating the World Children’s Day

Slide for more.

On November 20th, our school came together to celebrate the UN World Children’s Day.

The day began early, with a group of staff and students taking part in a 10 km “Walk for Hope” to school. This symbolic walk honoured the many children around the world who travel long distances on foot each day for the chance to receive an education.

Throughout the morning, the entire school community wore blue and formed a “blue river” around campus, walking laps together to show unity and solidarity.

Primary students joined a special “Puzzle of Hope” activity, searching for puzzle pieces that formed the word HOPE, sharing what hope means to them, and discussing SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals. Students also created blue paper wish notes that filled our Hope Tree, supporting UNCRC Article 12, which highlights the importance of children’s voices and views.

During the day students also received seeds to plant their own “Seed of Hope,” learning that hope grows when it is nurtured. They also decorated their own “hero cape,” reminding them that every child has the power to be a hero and create positive change.

We wish every child around the world a joyful World Children’s Day. May the Seed of Hope for a brighter future continue to grow stronger each year.

Last week, our Early Years and Primary students embraced the spirit of athleticism and participation during their fantastic Sports Days. These events were a celebration where the focus was firmly on effort, participation, and the positive demonstration of our school’s core values.

  • Valuing Participation and commitment: While we certainly celebrated the winners, an additional achievement was the sheer enthusiasm, excellent sportsmanship, and determined effort shown by every single child. We rest at the finish line, but we show our commitment right up until the end!

  • Core Values in Action: It was heartwarming to see students encouraging their classmates, demonstrating Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Striving for Excellence and a love of learning. Moments throughout these days, both on and off the field are invaluable life lessons in teamwork and character development.

BSG was proud to be a Gold sponsor of this fantastic event last Saturday, and it was a pleasure to connect with so many of you throughout the day.

Our students' performances on stage were truly spectacular, and it was clear from the applause that everyone thoroughly enjoyed them.

The craft station and British Post Box ring toss were the busiest stalls of the day, drawing crowds and keeping everyone engaged.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit us – we hope you had as much fun as we did!

Reminder: BSG Skiing Team - 2025/2026 Academic Year

BY Mr. Campbell Maunder

Head of Primary

Slide Preview Up

We are excited to begin our ski season with the BSG Ski Team from Sunday 19th October. This ‘team’ is open to Primary and Secondary students of all ages and abilities. It is based at the indoor ski centre at SUNAC mall in Guangzhou’s Huadu district.

This year, the team will be managed by BSG teacher-volunteers on site, with additional Chinese-language and administrative support provided by Ms Penny Chen.

Sessions happen at SUNAC Mall each Sunday during term time from 2:00pm until around 4:45pm. Transport to and from SUNAC Mall must be arranged by parents, with supervised drop off and collection an expectation.

The cost of this programme is 3,516rmb for 15 x 2-hour coaching sessions. This rate includes English-language coaching, ski / snowboard hireage and ski-suits, helmets and boots. Children must provide their own gloves and warm base-layers.

Sessions will not take place on National Holidays, or on weekends at the beginning, middle or end of school-holidays. Credit is able to roll-over across school terms. Please note that creditis not retained when families elect for their children to miss a session that is scheduled and does take place.

This is a really exciting opportunity for our students, and does result in the chance to compete in local skiing & snowboarding competitions.
