Recently, emlyon business school held its annual press conference at its Paris campus. With Isabelle Huault, Executive President & Dean of emlyon business school, commencing her second term, the institution outlined its strategic roadmap—aligned with the “Resonance 2024–2028” plan—and presented its vision for 2030. The School’s strategic focus is centered on three key directions: cultivating management capabilities for an era of uncertainty, establishing a dedicated Tech School, and expanding its global footprint.

Risk Management: An Essential Competency for Future Leaders

In a period marked by escalating geopolitical, socio-economic, and climate-related risks, Lyon Business School has integrated risk management into its teaching and research agendas. The School’s extensive international network provides a robust foundation for this initiative. Current strategic partners include the French 942 Aerospace and Air Force Base, the French Air and Space Force Academy, the Institut des Hautes Études de Défense Nationale (IHEDN), Saint-Cyr Military Academy, and the French Diplomatic and Consular Academy. Additionally, the School has jointly established a chair with Groupama Rhône-Alpes Auvergne, focusing on climate risks and property insurance.

Leveraging its expertise and network, the School plans to launch a new Master’s program in Fall 2026:

MSc in Strategic Intelligence and Global Risks

This program aims to develop versatile professionals capable of mastering strategic intelligence analysis and assessing global risks. Graduates will be equipped to broaden decision-making perspectives and support organizations in making resilient choices amid turbulent global environments.

In response to the growing importance of uncertainty and risk management within the insurance industry, emlyon will collaborate with the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (Cnam) to launch an Executive Master in Leadership and Insurance Management in 2026, enhancing strategic and managerial competencies for industry professionals.

Furthermore, the school’s global collaboration network continues to grow:

Forming strategic alliances with Bioforce to nurture future humanitarian leaders

Working with the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC) to elevate leadership, innovation, and strategic thinking within international organizations, fostering more effective global governance.

Interdisciplinary Education: Merging Business and Technology for a New Educational Paradigm

Recognizing the rising trend of interdisciplinary learning, Lyon Business School has proactively developed a suite of innovative joint programs, including:

BSc in Data Science for Responsible Business (in partnership with Centrale Lyon)
Master in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Strategy

Dual degree programs combining management and engineering, developed in collaboration with Mines Saint-Étienne.
Currently, nearly 900 students are enrolled in these interdisciplinary programs integrating management and technology.

Recently, the school announced the launch of a dual degree Master’s program in Management in partnership with the Lyon University of Applied Sciences. To meet the increasing demand for tech-savvy talent, the School will establish a new Tech School in 2025 dedicated to cultivating expertise in artificial intelligence, data science, and other emerging fields.

The Tech School will be developed in three phases:

PhaseⅠ (2026 Spring)：Launch of the "emlyon ProPulse" career empowerment initiative, including vocational and associate degree programs targeting professionals seeking career transitions or new skillsets. Initial offerings will include courses in Industrial & Risk Management Technologies, AI Specialist roles, and Omnichannel Customer Service, with new initiatives in health and cybersecurity underway.

PhaseⅡ (2027 Fall)：Introduction of master’s programs in core technology disciplines.

Phase Ⅲ：Development of B2B executive education programs tailored for corporate clients.

Located in Paris, the Tech School campus will span over 1,500 square meters and is projected to host more than 2,500 students by 2030.

Built upon a multidisciplinary curriculum and supported by La Toile, the school’s digital training academy, Lyon Business School has established a solid foundation in technology education. Over the past four years, La Toile has provided free training to over 600 unemployed individuals, with 86% achieving employment—demonstrating the School’s ability to bridge skill gaps and promote social inclusion through education.

Showcasing French Soft Power on the Global Stage

For years, emlyon business school has actively pursued a global strategy, increasing its international influence. Currently, it operates campuses in Shanghai and Mumbai, with collaborations extending to nearly 240 partner universities worldwide. Future initiatives to deepen global influence include:

Strengthening strategic cooperation with Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) through joint projects and academic exchanges, further consolidating emlyon's presence and reputation in China.

Expanding collaboration with the Management Development Institute (MDI) in India via joint programs, faculty and student exchanges, and research initiatives.

emlyon business school has also expanded its influence by offering courses at the London Interdisciplinary School (LIS), in which Lyon is a shareholder, thereby extending its presence into London's dynamic academic and innovation ecosystem.

On a global scale, the school is establishing new representative offices to serve its alumni, corporate partners, and prospective students. Currently, it maintains a representative office in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, with plans to open additional offices in the Middle East and South America to strengthen its international engagement.

At the core of its internationalization strategy is the ambition to attract outstanding students worldwide. While European demographic growth has slowed, regions such as Africa and Asia are experiencing rapid development. Lyon Business School aims to have international students comprise 50% of its student body by 2030, reinforcing its commitment to fostering a truly global community.
