“GradeBac” – A Smarter Way to Track IB Grades
DP2 students Kevin and Dylan, together with DP1 student Tudor, developed GradeBac after becoming frustrated with how difficult it was to calculate and predict their IB grades. ManageBac only provides grades as percentages, while different assessment types — such as quizzes, tests, and projects — are weighted differently.
Determined to solve this problem, the students spent weeks perfecting the formula down to two decimal points before coding the browser extension. They went through over 20 versions, refining the interface and fixing bugs to ensure a smooth and accurate user experience.
Their biggest challenge came when trying to get the app approved on the Google Chrome Web Store. “We were rejected countless times because of policy guidelines,” shares Kevin. “But we kept improving and resubmitting, refusing to give up.”
For the team, GradeBac isn’t about profit. “We wanted to make something accessible,” says Tudor. “Every IB student deserves an accurate, simple way to understand their progress — it shouldn’t be a struggle.”
The extension is designed to work with any school’s ManageBac system, not just QAIS’s, reflecting the students’ vision of making it available to the global IB community. They are now continuing to refine the code and formula to include grade prediction features in future updates.
Now officially live and free to download, GradeBac is available to students worldwide via the Google Chrome Web Store.

DP2 的 Kevin、Dylan 与 DP1 的 Tudor 同学共同研发了全新APP工具 “GradeBac”；而这一切的起点，是对 IB 成绩与预测分数计算的困扰。现有工具 ManageBac 仅以百分比形式呈现成绩，且测验、考试、项目等不同评估类型的权重计算方式复杂，导致难以直观把握真实学业进度。
为解决这一问题，三位学生耗时数周，将成绩计算模型精准优化至小数点后两位，着手编写浏览器插件代码。他们前后迭代了20多个版本，不断优化界面设计、修复程序漏洞，只为确保工具使用流畅且数据精准。
研发过程中最大的挑战，是推动工具在谷歌 Chrome 应用商店通过审核。“由于政策准则限制，我们被拒绝了无数次，”Kevin 分享道，“但我们没有放弃，持续改进、反复提交，终于突破了难关。”
对团队而言，研发 GradeBac 并非为了盈利。“我们希望打造一款人人可用的工具，”Tudor 表示，“每一位 IB 学生都应该掌握简单、精准了解自身学业进度的方式，这不该成为一种困扰。”
这款插件不仅适用于美亚的ManageBac 系统，还能兼容全球任何学校的 ManageBac 系统——体现了学生们希望惠及全球 IB 社区的愿景。目前，他们仍在持续优化代码与计算模型，计划在未来更新中加入成绩预测功能。
