On November 21, AmCham Shanghai successfully hosted its 22nd Annual Government Engagement Dinner, bringing together more than 200 American business leaders and government representatives from the US and China. U.S. Ambassador to China David Perdue delivered video remarks, while Ambassador Sha Hailin (Deputy Director of the 15th Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Congress and President of the Shanghai Public Relations Association), Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government Zhu Min, and U.S. Consul General in Shanghai Scott Walker attended the event in person. The dinner highlighted the constructive role American companies in China continue to play in facilitating dialogue between the business community and government stakeholders.

Eric Zheng, President of AmCham Shanghai, welcomed leaders from the Shanghai Municipal Government and the U.S. Consulate. He noted that the dinner supports long-standing government–business dialogue, which contributes to a transparent, predictable, and sustainable business environment for foreign companies operating in Shanghai.

Ambassador David Perdue commended the leaders of the United States and China for their commitment to building a stable, effective relationship. Ambassador Perdue emphasized that constructive, forward-looking conversation has facilitated recent progress on multiple fronts and created the space needed to address challenging issues and enable American businesses to compete on a level playing field.
沙海林大使在致辞中表示希望美资企业继续抓住上海发展的新机遇，并为构建更好的上海营商环境建言献策。
Ambassador Sha Hailin expressed his hope that American companies will continue to seize new opportunities presented by Shanghai's development and to offer constructive suggestions to help improve the city's business environment.
