Supervision Intention Letter
2026 Intake
The Supervision Intention Letter (SIL) signed by a Donghua University (DHU) supervisor is required as one of the application materials for most of the master's degree programs and all doctoral degree programs applications at DHU. Here we offer some tips on contacting your prospective supervisors to complete your postgraduate application more smoothly.
拟申请东华大学部分硕士研究生项目以及所有博士研究生项目的来华留学生，需要准备一份由我校导师签署的《导师意向函》。以下为联系校内导师申请《导师意向函》的建议。
Step 1
第一步
Check the 2026 Master's or Doctoral Programs List & Key Application Information. Make sure you're qualified to apply for and, DHU offers the program that you're interested in.
Check the 2026 Research Directions & Faculties Information. Use the online translation or translation software in case you need to read in English.

Contact the professor on your own via email.
1) With the information on the official website, you can find professors’ information, research directions and contact emails.
2) You are suggested to email the relevant documents that can prove your competence when contacting the professors, such as an introductory paragraph why you feel their expertise would be crucial to advance your intended research, your academic background, diploma or transcripts, CV, Master's thesis (for Doctoral program applicants), published articles, a draft version of your research proposal you intend to use in your future study, etc;
3) Do write the email in the medium of instruction you apply for. Academics can receive many requests for supervision. It’s vital that you make your first impression count.
1) 官网上的师资信息会展示导师的基本信息、研究方向和联系方式。
2) 通过电子邮件向意向导师发送证明申请者教育背景和学习能力的相关文件，如个人介绍或与导师所契合研究方向的一段说明、教育经历、学术背景、学历学位证书和成绩单、简历、毕业论文（博士申请者可发送）、发表的文章、研究计划等。
3) 邮件沟通时，请使用计划申请项目的教学语言。导师们会收到众多的指导请求。因此，请务必完善你提供的材料。
Step 3
第三步
If the professor is willing to be your potential supervisor, scan the QR code below to download the SIL-master's or doctoral (2026 intake) accordingly, fill out and sign it respectively by yourself and the professor. The date of the professor's signature should be within six months before the application deadline (starting from November 2025).
*Also, the professor should sign on the cover of one's Research Proposal (only for doctoral applicants).
如果教授有意向成为申请者未来在东华大学学习和研究的导师，申请者本人下载相应的《导师意向函》（硕士或博士，2026年入学），填写后交意向导师填写和签字。意向导师的签字日期应在2025年11月1日之后。
* 博士申请人还需请导师在自己的研究计划书封面签字。

The Supervision Intention Letter is only used as an application material required by Donghua University. It shows the intention of the professor who signed, but not an official acceptance or admission to the University.
注：《导师意向函》仅作为东华大学要求的申请材料之一。它仅表明了签字教授的意向，不作为东华大学的官方录取文件。
