In my opinion, the growth of lychee seeds serves as a measure of time.
Last year, I tried cultivating lychee seeds in water. At that time, many people were sharing photos of their pink lychee leaves online, which caught my interest. I attempted to grow them too, but wasn’t successful.
This year, I tried again in June. First, I placed the seeds in a plastic box lined with damp paper towels. Several days later, they began to germinate. After that, I transferred them to a new container where the seeds absorbed water only through their roots. Soon, pink stems emerged, followed by pink leaves.
I learned that to maintain the pink color, the plant must be kept away from light. So, I covered it with a paper bag—and it worked! I got the pink leaves I wanted. However, I noticed the leaves became soft and lacked vitality. That’s when I removed the paper bag.Under sunlight, the plants grew stronger and healthier.
Now, they have been growing for four months.Perhaps time is like nourishment—it feeds the plants, and in the process, nurtures me as well.
