<Architectural Dreams> Spatial Micro Video Projection

This workshop will challenge our entrenched perceptions of familiar environments, transforming the art department building itself into a creative canvas.

Inspired by mentor Florian Virly's projects “Talking Windows” and “Return from Vacation,” we will learn to use “Micro-Mapping” technology to transform the most ordinary everyday spaces—such as a staircase corner, a door, a pillar, or even a potted plant—into dynamic, poetic art installations.

We won't merely “play” a video; instead, the video content will engage in precise dialogue with the physical form it projects onto. By the workshop's end, we will “awaken” the building's memory, revealing its hidden narratives.

Florian Virly(法国)

Florian Virly

Professor Florian Virly is a French artist. His artistic practice is rooted in “relationships”—relationships with others, with places, and with life itself. Deeply influenced by his years of experience in China, his work seeks to explore the connections between culture, place, and life. In his practice, the artist functions more as a “facilitator” or “connector” than as a detached creator. Through immersive local listening and collaboration, he aims to reveal the poetry and potential already present within a space but not yet seen. His work takes diverse forms, including video installations, site-specific projections, photography, and participatory projects.

Creating with agricultural waste Inspired by

关中 (Guanzhong) Mangba Harvest traditions

We are here for a workshop we call ‘Harvest Forms.’ Our mission is to transform these humble materials into objects of beauty and meaning. And our inspiration is drawn from the deep, fertile cultural soil of the 关 中 (Guanzhong) region and its profound mángbā (忙罢) harvest tradition. For those who may not know, ‘mángbā’ literally means ‘busy-ness is over.’ It is the celebratory period after the intense labor of the summer harvest. It’s a time of community, of gratitude, and of enjoying the fruits of one's labor. It’s a moment where hard work transforms into festivity, and the community gathers to share food, opera, and stories—a true thanksgiving, deeply embedded in the Shaanxi heartland.

Design thinking for sustainability

Sustainability is a primary concern for all of us today, as can be seen from the global efforts to navigate the challenges that face our planet and humanity’s survival. These challenges require us to collaborate, imagine, and innovate in ways that embrace pluriversality and recognise the complexity of existing systems. They will also force us to interrogate the values that guide our decisions andthink holistically about the impact of the decisions we make and actions we take. As we explore how design thinking can be used to reframe these challenges, you will be asked to tolerate ambiguity, take creative risks, and accept uncomfortable truths. You will be asked to think differently and work collaboratively. This is design thinking and this is how we will change the world.

Who Overlooked Hilma af Klint

By presenting the legendary life of Hilma af Klint—a Swedish female painter who created some of the earliest abstract paintings in art history through spiritual practice—and by surveying the radical Russian Constructivism, Dutch De Stijl, and revolutionary German Bauhaus movements that emerged in the early 20th century alongside her, this lecture reveals how abstract art profoundly influenced the development of art and design, thereby reshaping human life.

Design Research and The Practical Application of Concepts

The lecture focuses on the logic of transforming design from creative concepts to tangible reality, drawing upon four realized projects from different phases of the presenter's career to demonstrate implementation pathways across diverse scenarios. Breaking free from the formal constraints of traditional design, the research emphasizes that concepts should originate from lived experiences rather than mere formal exploration. From client requirements and business characteristics to brand ethos and local culture, each project is grounded in meticulous research, balancing creative expression with practical value through spatial planning, material selection, and functional integration. The design process consistently addresses visual impact, cost efficiency, and sustainability—preserving the uniqueness of core concepts while achieving realization through scientific construction and meticulous detailing. These projects collectively offer exemplary cases for commercial space design, integrating theoretical depth with practical reference value.

Practical Application of Intelligent Robots Driven by

Graphical Industrial Software

Historically, industrial six-axis robotic arms have been perceived as cold, mechanical entities, making them seem inaccessible to design students. In reality, these arms mimic the structure of the human arm. Theoretically, anything a human can accomplish with a single hand holding a tool can also be achieved by a robotic arm equipped with the appropriate tooling—signifying limitless potential. In recent years, we've successfully applied robotic arms across traditional construction, industrial automation, and education. We'll delve into these use cases, dissecting the potential and value of robotic arms in diverse scenarios, opening a new window for everyone to reimagine their capabilities.

Reality or Virtuality? —— A Dialogue from the Perspective of

Color Practice and Theoretical Cognition

Color is both a physical property of light and a product of subjective perception. In an age where digital technologies and virtual realities increasingly permeate everyday life, the boundary between “real” and “virtual” has become ever more ambiguous. This lecture takes color as its entry point, exploring the topic through two complementary lenses: on the one hand, it examines whether the colors presented by artists or digital screens constitute objective representations or sensory illusions; on the other, it questions whether a universal “true color” exists—or if we all inhabit individual “color virtual realities” shaped by our physiology and cultural frameworks. Rather than offering definitive answers, this dialogue invites you to step into the labyrinth of color and reconsider—amid the tension between real and virtual—how we perceive the world, how our perception is mediated by technology, and how it is shaped by culture.
