Alza is the largest Czech e-commerce retailer, renowned for its extensive product range and innovative delivery services. Recently Alza announced that it is adding a new category to its offerings: humanoid robots. According to the press release, the goal is not immediate commercial success – rather, the retailer senses potential and wants to be prepared for the future.

Alza's goal is to gradually build expertise, a portfolio, and infrastructure for robots, educate the public, and expand its offerings to include other types. The company is also preparing for price reductions and wider availability so that humanoid robots can become a common part of households and businesses in the future. "Today, humanoid robots are primarily educational and development platforms. In the near future, they could become assistants for specific tasks, but we are still at the beginning and are curious to see how the technology will evolve," describes Eliška Čeřovská, PR manager of Alza.

Currently, there are two models from the Unitree brand in the offering:
· The Unitree G1 Basic is designed for basic introduction to robotics, with a price set at 486,590 Czech koruna.
· The Unitree G1 EDU is more powerful, equipped with advanced sensors, programmable, and allows experimentation with custom applications. It will cost triple the price: 1,427,290 Czech koruna.

What the G1 Can Do

The G1 robots are designed less as consumer products and more as educational tools. We're not yet at the stage where these humanoids can chop wood or iron your clothes with two taps in an app, but companies, universities, and affluent enthusiasts can use them to learn new technologies—programming, developing custom applications, and testing various scenarios.

The Unitree G1 is a foldable humanoid robot standing 130 cm tall and weighing 35 kg. It features 23 joints, perceives 3D space through LiDAR, processes data with an octa-core processor, connects via Wi-Fi, and has a battery life of approximately two hours. Capable of walking, running, and performing acrobatic maneuvers including flips, it serves as an affordable solution for research, education, and public demonstrations.

Alza has already secured its first clients from the education sector and aims to meet the needs of technology enthusiasts within this year. By the end of the year, the team will test one or two new models and plans to begin deliveries of additional robots early next year. Selected models will be displayed in showrooms and at specific events.
