The trend of purely electric passenger cars is gaining very interesting dynamics in the Czech Republic. Both sales of new electric vehicles and imports of used cars from abroad are growing significantly. At a time when Western car companies are facing declining profits, Škoda Auto is mainly reporting excellent results, while the American Tesla has significantly worsened compared to last year.

More than 52,000 pure electric passenger cars are currently on the roads in the Czech Republic. From January to the end of September, 10,180 new pure electric passenger vehicles were sold, representing a year-on-year increase of 41%.

目前,捷克有超过5.2万辆纯电动乘用车行驶在路上。今年1月至9月底,该国共售出10,180辆新的纯电动乘用车,同比增长41%。


The proportion of electric vehicles in the total passenger car sales (regardless of powertrain) – with over 182,000 units reported by dealers – remains relatively low, but it is also growing dynamically compared to last year. Specifically, it increased from 4.2% to 5.6%, according to the latest information from the Clean Transport portal, which draws data from the Ministry of Transport and the Association of Car Importers.

电动汽车在所有乘用车(不论动力系统类型)销量中的占比仍然相对较低——经销商报告的总销量超过18.2万辆——但较去年同期也实现了动态增长。具体而言,根据从交通部和汽车进口商协会获取数据的"清洁交通"门户网站最新信息,该占比已从4.2%上升至5.6%。


Pure electric vehicles thus became the third most popular choice for consumers. Gasoline cars led with 67%, with their sales growing year-on-year; diesel cars accounted for just over twenty percent, but consumers are gradually losing interest in them. "This year's developments confirm that electromobility is gradually becoming more accessible, and customers are increasingly perceiving it as a realistic alternative to traditional powertrains," stated Jindřich Frič, Director of the Transport Research Center.

纯电动汽车由此成为消费者的第三大热门选择。汽油车以67%的占比位居榜首,其销量同比持续增长;柴油车占比超过20%,但消费者对其兴趣正逐渐减弱。交通研究中心主任金德利赫·弗里奇(Jindřich Frič)表示:"今年的事态发展证实,电动出行正逐渐变得更为可及,消费者日益将其视为传统动力系统的现实替代方案。"


Škoda Auto experienced the most notable year-on-year sales increase, with 3,697 vehicles sold. By the end of September, it maintained its leading position in the electric vehicle market with a market share of over 36%. In contrast, Tesla, which dominated last year, saw a significant sales decline of 43%. Consequently, its market share plummeted from last year's 38% to 15%.

斯柯达汽车成为同比增长最显著的企业,其销量达到3,697辆。截至9月底,该公司以超过36%的市场份额保持了电动车市场领导者地位。相反,去年占据主导地位的特斯拉销量却大幅下滑43%,其市场份额也从去年的38%暴跌至15%。


The American Tesla still maintains its position as the second most popular brand in the Czech Republic, having sold 1,566 electric vehicles. It is followed by Volkswagen, Hyundai, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Kia, Toyota, BMW, and Volvo rounds out the top ten.

美国品牌特斯拉仍保持着捷克共和国第二大受欢迎品牌的地位,共售出1,566辆电动汽车。紧随其后的是大众、现代、福特、梅赛德斯-奔驰、起亚、丰田、宝马,而沃尔沃则位列前十名末位。


Among individual models, the Škoda Elroq (2,048 sales) and Škoda Enyaq (1,649 sales) performed best. The Elroq has just entered the market, so year-on-year comparison is not available. The same cannot be said for the Enyaq model, of which Škoda sold more than double compared to last year. The third and fourth positions among the best-selling models were taken by Tesla with the Model Y and Model 3.

Both models are selling significantly worse than last year, specifically by 25% and 65% respectively. Sales of the Toyota BZ4X, Kia EV3, Volkswagen ID.7, Hyundai Kona, Hyundai Inster, and Volkswagen ID.Buzz remained in the low hundreds.

这两款车型的销量均远低于去年同期,具体降幅分别为25%和65%。而丰田BZ4X、起亚EV3、大众ID.7、现代Kona、现代Inster及大众ID.Buzz等车型的销量仍维持在数百辆的低位水平。


Czech customers are also increasingly opting for used electric passenger cars. By the end of September, 6,179 used EVs had been imported, raising their market share from last year's 2.5% to 5.6%. Additionally, used electric vehicles are available at lower prices. For example, on the portal TipCars, the median price in the first half of last year was 750,000 Czech koruna, while this year it is 50,000 koruna lower.

"We expect further growth in the supply of used electric vehicles, primarily driven by imports from Western Europe. Importing remains one of the main ways to acquire a used electric vehicle in the Czech Republic. The expanding availability of nearly-new vehicles and the entry of new brands into the market, such as Chinese BYD, XPeng, and Omoda, also contribute to increased accessibility. Their models will gradually begin to appear in the used car segment as well," commented Marek Knieža, Director of TipCars, on the market developments.

In addition to passenger cars, the Czech market for electric light commercial vehicles and trucks is also growing. By the end of September, dealers had sold 887 light commercial electric vehicles, more than triple the number from last year. Sales of electric trucks nearly doubled, with 90 vehicles sold. The only segment that declined was electric buses, whose sales dropped from 34 units to 19. The MAN brand dominated, followed by Iveco Bus and Solaris.
