In every Toastmasters meeting, we have 4 main sessions:


-Table Topics 

-Guest Talk

-Prepared Speeches 

-Evaluation 


Our members and guests can fully engage in the meeting, practice their speaking, enhance their communication skills, and build confidence.


Meeting Theme

Hard Work vs. People Skills 


01

SAA Opening 

The SAA session serves to kick off the meeting by introducing the meeting etiquette, addressing important taboos, and welcoming the President.

The SAA (Sergeant at Arms) introduced the following meeting etiquette and taboos.


The meeting etiquettes as follows:

- Shake hands

- Set your phone to silent mode

- Do not walk around when others are speaking


Meeting taboos:
Religion, politics, sex, and topics of low taste.

Club President gave an introduction to Toastmasters International and Pudong Toastmasters Club.

Toastmaster of the Meeting 

The Toastmaster of the Meeting (TOM) is the host of the entire meeting.

Our TOM introduced the theme and ensured smooth transitions throughout the meeting.

Guest Talk 

The Guest Talk session gives all guests a chance to introduce themselves in 30 seconds. 

This session was held by Bella Li

Prepared Speech 

In this session, 3 to 4 members will deliver speeches based on the Toastmasters education program. Each speech has a specific project objective

For example, PM1-3 refers to Level 1, Project 3 in Presentation Mastery (one of the Toastmasters Pathways education programs). The Toastmaster Pathways are shown below.

Similarly, PI1 or PI2 after a speaker's name indicates the educational award they have achieved.


Most speeches before level 2 last 5 to 7 minutes. For advanced speakers, the duration exceeds 10 minutes.

Title of Speech: Imperfect Perfection

George shared his own story, his previous working experience and an unforgettable period in his life through many happy and sad moments. But the past has passed and it brought him more experience.  

Speaker 2: Yvonne ZhuDTM

Title of Speech: Ship

Even though the economy is slowing down, we can still find ways to move forward at work.

As employees, we can stay steady and take ownership.

As the company, we can encourage people to achieve their KPIs.And as leaders, we should Keep People Inspired, then the KPIs will come naturally.

Speaker 3: Tim ChenPM5

Title of Speech: This Year

Tim shared how he was healed by the small things in life. Taking cooking as an example, he described how it draws our full attention to the utensils and ingredients, and how customizing a dish to our own taste can bring great joy.

Individual Evaluation 

Individual Evaluators will provide feedback to the prepared speakers, with 2-3 minutes allocated for each speech.


A good evaluation should not only inspire the speaker but also offer constructive suggestions for improvement.

General Evaluation Team 

The General Evaluation Team consists of 4 roles.


The General Evaluator's primary responsibility is to assess the overall meeting flow, the performance of various roles, and the club's overall operations to ensure the meeting’s quality and effectiveness.

GE: Will Tong


The Timer is responsible for managing and recording the time for both speakers and the entire meeting.

Timer: Frieda Gui


The Ah Counter tracks and reports the use of filler words, repeated words, or unnecessary pauses during speeches, such as "ah," "um," "you know," "like," and others.

Ah Counter: Gloria Guo


The Grammarian helps members improve their language usage, focusing on word choice, sentence structure, and grammatical accuracy.
