Slovenia has been elected as a member of Human Rights Council for the period 2026-2028 by the UN General Assembly in New York.

Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon on the elections: "At a time when trust in multilateralism is fading and human rights and humanitarian law face unprecedented challenges, Slovenia’s election to the Human Rights Council sends a clear message: choosing dialogue over division, and principles over power.
