An event in the context of the 2025 Shanghai Book Fair took place on 16 August at the Shanghai Exhibition Center and showcased the fact that both China and Greece are ancient civilisations with rich, time-honored culinary cultures. 


2025 年上海书展期间,一场新书发布会活动于 8 月 16 日在上海展览中心举行。活动体现了中国和希腊作为文明古国拥有着丰富而悠久的饮食文化。

In the context of the Shanghai Book Fair, was presented the book titled ‘From Grandmother’s Kitchen to the World's Table’ which was written by Mrs. Xu Li, the wife of the Ambassador of Greece to China. As was stated by the guests, “with her unique cross-cultural perspective and delicate and simple brushstrokes, Mrs. Xu Li condenses the warmth of the Sino-Greek family and the beauty of the blend of Sino-Greek culture in her pen. Through dozens of ancestral recipes from Greece, she leads readers to appreciate the unique and simple Greek food culture and convey positive and open-minded life values.”


上海书展期间,希腊驻华大使夫人徐莉所著的《从祖母厨房到世界餐桌》一书发布。嘉宾们评价道:“徐莉女士以独特的跨文化视角和细腻质朴的笔触,将中希家庭的温情与中希文化交融之美凝于笔端。通过数十道希腊祖传食谱,她引领读者领略独特而质朴的希腊饮食文化,传递积极豁达的人生价值观。”

In particular, the Ambassador of Greece to China, Dr. Kalpyris, laying emphasis on aspects of culinary heritage, stated: "As Ambassador of Greece to China, I would like to congratulate her on the beautiful and accurate way in which she presented an important part of Greek culture, namely its cuisine, in a way that allows Chinese readers, heirs to a global culture and one of the world's most renowned cuisines, to discover yet another way of diving into the other global culture, thus the Greek culture. This path is paved with fun and in an easy mode with Xu Li's help, and - trust me - it becomes very enjoyable. It's no coincidence that Greek cuisine is now consistently ranked among the top cuisines in most international rankings.”


希腊驻华大使Kalpyris博士着重强调了饮食传承方面,他表示:“作为希腊驻华大使,我要向她表示祝贺。她以优美而确准的方式呈现了希腊文化的一个重要组成部分——希腊美食,让作为世界文化传承者、拥有全球最知名菜系之一的中国读者,得以发现另一种深入了解希腊这一世界文化的途径。在徐莉的笔下,这条探索之路充满乐趣且轻松易懂——相信我,它格外的引人入胜。希腊美食如今在众多国际排名中稳居顶尖菜系之列,这绝非偶然。”


Mrs. Xu Li in her approach highlighted three keywords, that is nature, sharing, and heritage: “Greek cuisine originates from nature; what people share and pass on is not just Greek snacks, but also information and warmth; what is passed down through generations is not just dishes and recipes, but also culture and history.”


徐莉女士在分享中强调了三个关键词,即“自然”、“共享”、“传承”。她说道:“希腊饮食始于自然;人与人之间分享与传递的不只是希腊小吃,也是信息与温情;几代人传承下来的不只有菜肴与菜谱,更有文化与历史。”

The event was hosted by Zhao Qing, Deputy Director of the Chinese Works Foreign Translation Promotion Center of China Translation Publishing House, and it was attended by the Ambassador of Greece to China, Dr. Evgenios Kalpyris, the Consul General of Greece in Shanghai, Mr. Georgios Partheniou and the Head of the Public Diplomacy Office of the Consulate General.


此次活动由中译出版社中国作品对外翻译推广中心副主任赵青主持,希腊驻华大使Evgenios Kalpyris博士、希腊驻上海总领事Georgios Partheniou以及总领馆公共外交办公室负责人出席了活动。
