PVTIME - KEZAD Group, the leading operator of integrated and dedicated economic zones within the Khalifa Economic Zone in Abu Dhabi, has announced that China Southern Glass (CSG), a global leader in energy-efficient glass and advanced materials, will establish its first overseas smart manufacturing facility in the UAE.
Located in ICAD 1 in Mussafah, the project involves an investment of 300 million UAE dirhams and will create 400 professional and technical jobs, supporting the emirate’s goals of driving industrial growth and economic diversification. The facility, which is set to be built on a 95,000-square-metre site in ICAD 1, Mussafah, will also serve as CSG’s regional headquarters for the production of high-performance, energy-efficient glass.
Once operational, the factory will produce over 5 million square metres of coated, laminated and insulating glass each year to supply construction and infrastructure projects in the UAE, the wider Gulf region, Europe, Africa and the US. The factory will feature automated, smart production lines and world-leading coating technologies, with operations expected to commence by the end of 2026. This will provide UAE developers with reliable, locally manufactured glass and reduce the region’s reliance on imports.
CSG’s investment reflects strong confidence in Abu Dhabi’s industrial strategy and the KEZAD Group’s role as an advanced manufacturing centre. By creating hundreds of jobs and localising high-quality glass production, the project will strengthen Abu Dhabi’s industrial base and open up new opportunities across the entire value chain.
KEZAD states that leading sustainable international and regional businesses are choosing its zones to expand their presence across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. KEZAD adds that CSG’s Abu Dhabi operations will increase the production of energy-efficient glass to meet the needs of the region’s construction sector, in line with the UAE’s green building and clean energy agenda.
