Sun Zhiyang, mayor of Guangzhou, made an inspection tour of the venues of the 138th China Import and Export Fair, also known as Canton Fair, on Friday.
At the fair’s on-site command center, Sun emphasized the importance of thoroughly implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping’s directives on effectively managing Canton Fair. He called for a systematic review of past experiences, continuous optimization of operational mechanisms, innovation in service measures, and efforts to enhance the fair’s quality and efficiency.
Sun stressed that efforts should be made to prioritize buyers’ needs, utilize intelligent technologies, and ensure excellent services in areas such as certificate processing and transportation organization. These initiatives aim to significantly enhance the convenience, comfort and satisfaction of exhibitors and participants.
Sun highlighted the need to leverage the concurrent Canton Fair and the 15th National Games to convert the influx of visitors into growth opportunities.
This session Canton Fair has introduced an offshore tax refund service area, offering exclusive “immediate purchase and refund” services for overseas buyers. Sun thoroughly examined the tax refund service process and product categories.
He said it is essential to capitalize on policy opportunities, create popular products tailored to Guangzhou’s unique context, optimize the tax refund process, enhance the inbound consumption experience, and further stimulate consumption potential.
In the household appliances and service robots section, Sun observed product demonstrations and inquired about product research and development, industrial design, application scenarios, and export sales.
He encouraged enterprises to focus on independent innovation, align market demands with their strengths, develop outstanding products, and explore new application scenarios.
He noted that enterprises should fully utilize Canton Fair to explore overseas markets and promote high-quality Chinese products and services globally. He assured that Guangzhou will continue to provide a favorable environment to promote the high-quality growth of foreign trade.
Zhu Yong, director of the China Foreign Trade Center, and Hu Hao, a senior official of Guangzhou, also attended this inspection tour.
