导读:Connection begins with a simple hello!

On October 19th, the Know Your Qingdao Networking Event brought together expats and locals alike for an afternoon filled with discovery, connection, and warmth.

Initiated by the Community Center of Qingdao (CCQ) and co-organized by Qingdao Yards, WAVES, and Having a Baby in China (HABIC), this in-person gathering was all about helping one another — sharing tips, stories, and laughter while building a stronger, more connected international community in Qingdao. This event is part of the "Resonance" series, an art and culture program initiated by Qingdao Yards.

The event took place at Qingdao Yards, a beautifully restored historical courtyard on Pingdu Road. The day began with a guided walking tour of the surrounding historical neighborhood, where participants learned about the citys unique architecture and cultural heritage.

Back at the venue, attendees enjoyed a presentation on practical living tips — from navigating healthcare and local services to using essential apps like Alipay and WeChat. An open Q&A session followed, giving newcomers the chance to ask questions and receive first-hand advice from long-term residents.

The afternoon continued with networking, coffee, and local treats, as guests explored a small vendor market featuring international wines, artisanal candles, handcrafted goods, and community-focused services. A highlight for many was the lucky draw, with generous prizes from local partners like Qingdao Yards, XMandarin, Yijian Dental Clinic, micMAC Global Consulting, Cruchic, Neptune, Bodegon, Sanbon Nature, The DinerAmanlisaSeptember Tea House, Miemie Maomao, Qingning, Quiz Qingdao, SpineC, United Family Hospital, and more.

Children enjoyed their own cozy corner upstairs, while adults mingled to the rhythm of live music, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere that perfectly captured the spirit of the event. In the end people left with a goodie bag full of coupons and gifts sponsored by TOREAD Cafe, Superbowl Pizza, Sunny’s Supermarket, Buzhi Pickleball DK Cake, GreenWave and SoBook, to name a few.

What truly stood out was the sense of community — people from all walks of life, different countries, and diverse backgrounds coming together under one shared goal: to make Qingdao an even warmer, more welcoming place to live.

A heartfelt thank you goes to all the organizers, sponsors, and volunteers who made this event possible — and to every participant who brought their curiosity, kindness, and open heart.

The Know Your Qingdao Networking Event reminds us that no matter where we come from, community starts with connection — and connection begins with a simple hello.
