Mexico to Raise Tariffs on
Chinese Goods Up to 50%

The Mexican government recently announced plans to increase tariffs on key imported goods from countries with which it has no trade agreements, in an effort to boost domestic industries and reduce reliance on Asian imports. According to Mexico’s Minister of Economy, the proposed bill has already been submitted to Congress. Analysts note that under the proposal, import tariffs on automobiles could rise as high as 50%. Currently, Mexico imposes tariffs of 15%–20% on light vehicles imported from China.

Service, Adds Abu Dhabi
Port to Strengthen Reefer
Cargo Connectivity

On October 9, 2025, MSC announced adjustments to its Far East–East Coast South America Carioca service, adding Abu Dhabi Port to the eastbound rotation in late October and removing Hambantota, Sri Lanka. This follows an earlier optimization that added Itapoa Port to the service earlier this year. The revised port rotation is as follows: Qingdao – Busan – Ningbo – Shanghai – Shenzhen (Shekou) – Singapore – Colombo – Rio de Janeiro – Santos – Paranagua – Itapoa – Itajai – Buenos Aires – Rio Grande – Itajai – Navegantes – Santos – Rio de Janeiro – Walvis Bay – Abu Dhabi – Singapore – Qingdao. MSC stated that this adjustment aims to better support reefer cargo flows between South America and the Middle East, enhancing cross-regional logistics network connectivity.
