Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP) will allocate more than USD 530 M between 2025 and 2029 to expand and modernize the Morelia International Airport, which represents the largest investment in the history of this terminal. The plan contemplates a 23% growth in the surface area of the terminal building, with works that will improve the travel experience for more than 1.3 million passengers per year.

As part of the Master Development Plan, key works will be carried out such as the expansion of the Last Waiting Room by more than 1,000 m², which means a growth of 128%, and the incorporation of four autonomous migratory filters, which will speed up the transit of international passengers. A new 110 m² arrivals hall will also be built.

Operational expansion in the face of growing demand
In addition, the baggage claim hall will be expanded by 83%, with more than 600 m² additional; Two new boarding gates will be integrated to optimize the flow of operations and reduce waiting times. These actions respond to the sustained growth of air traffic, which increased 45% in the last five years, going from 898 thousand passengers in 2019 to more than 1.3 million at the end of 2024.

Air connectivity and commitment to the passenger experience
Currently, Morelia Airport maintains connections with 18 destinations – 7 domestic and 11 international – and performs an average of 1,300 operations per month. In July alone, it added 6 new routes, reinforcing its network and expanding travel options for the public.
