Good news, you can start planning your holidays!
China has officially released its 2027 public holiday schedule, and there's some good news for anyone working in China: Chinese New Year gets a nine-day break, National Day brings another seven days off, and there are fewer awkward weekend make up days than you might expect.
Of course, there's still a catch. You'll need to sacrifice a few Sundays and Saturdays to enjoy some of those longer breaks. China doesn't give away free holidays that easily.
Here's the calendar you should save.
January 31 (Sunday): Working day
February 14 (Sunday): Working day
May 8 (Saturday): Working day
September 26 (Sunday): Working day
October 9 (Saturday): Working day

Yes, that means working on a Sunday just to enjoy a longer holiday. The joys of working life in China.
If you're planning to travel or take a longer home trip, these are the two dates worth paying attention to.
1. Chinese New Year: February 5–13
Nine consecutive days off! This is probably your best opportunity for a longer winter holiday.
Just remember that millions of people in China will have exactly the same idea. Book your flights and hotels early unless you enjoy watching travel prices climb.
2. National Day: October 1–7
Another seven-day break, running from Friday to Thursday.
The clever move? The authorities are encouraging employers and employees to make better use of paid annual leave. If your company allows it, taking October 8 and 9 off could potentially give you a much longer holiday.
Just don't forget that October 9 is officially a working Saturday, so you'll need to plan your leave accordingly.
This 2027 schedule is official, so you can start planning your trips, family visits and annual leave.
