挪威主管外观设计的行政部门为挪威工业产权局（Patentstyret或NIPO）。挪威外观设计可以对申请进行保密，自申请日起最多保密申请所涉及的图片6个月。申请人可以通过直接申请、海牙体系和巴黎公约途径申请挪威外观设计专利。
挪威外观设计专利保护期为5年，可以延续保护5次，即最多保护25年。
1.提交申请
可在线提交申请。提交申请后，申请人需要在4周内支付官费。申请提交后，NIPO会立即公布相关申请信息，但外观设计图片不公布，如申请人希望先不公开申请信息，应请求保密审查。
2.审查
申请提交后3个月内，NIPO会发出审查结果，包括形式审查和实质审查。如申请存在问题，申请人应在NIPO规定的时间内进行答复，否则申请视为放弃。
3.授权
如NIPO认为申请符合相关法律法规，会向申请人发出授权通知通知。
需要注意，如果提交挪威外观设计专利申请后又想在别的国家引用此申请的优先权的，需要在申请提交之日起6个月内提交新申请。
挪威外观设计注册申请费用为2470挪威克朗，包含一项外观设计的申请官费以及前五年年费。
如果申请包含多个设计，每个额外设计加收1690挪威克朗。
The administrative authority for design in Norway is the Norwegian Industrial Property Office (Patentstyret or NIPO).
NIPO can keep the pictures of the design in the application secret for a maximum of six months from the day applicant filed the application the first time, either in Norway or in another country.
The right lasts for five years and can be renewed five times.
Apply for a Patent
1. Submitting an application
Applications can be submitted online. After submitting the application, the applicant is required to pay the official fee within 4 weeks.
After the application is submitted, NIPO will immediately publish the relevant application information, but the design pictures will not be published.
If the applicant wishes to withhold the application information, he/she should request a confidential review.
2.Examination
Within 3 months after the application is filed, NIPO will issue the examination results, including formal examination and substantive examination.
If there are any problems with the application, the applicant should reply within the deadline by NIPO, otherwise the application is considered abandoned.
3.Authorisation
If NIPO finds that the application complies with the relevant laws and regulations, it will issue a notice of authorisation and payment of official fees to the applicant.
The patent will be granted after the applicant has paid the official fee.
It should be noted that if a Norwegian design patent application is filed and the applicant wishes to invoke the priority of the application in another country, a new application must be filed within 6 months of the date of filing of the application.

Office Fees
The fee for a design application is NOK 2470. This covers registration of one design for five years.
If application contains more than one design, there is an additional fee of NOK 1690 (multiple registration fee) for each extra design (the price will be worked out as you fill in the application).
