保加利亚专利局（BPO）负责为保加利亚的发明、实用新型、集成电路布图设计、植物品种和工业品外观设计提供审查与保护。
保加利亚是外观设计海牙体系成员国以及欧盟成员，因此申请保加利外观设计专利可以通过：直接在BPO提交申请、通过海牙体系指定保加利亚、在欧盟申请（海牙体系途径指定欧盟）后在保加利亚生效。
本期主要介绍外观设计专利。
申请人可通过BPO提供的电子服务、纸质申请文件寄送以及传真方式提交保加利亚外观设计专利申请文书。
如果申请人在保加利亚没有住所或营业所，应委托代理人代为办理。
申请文书包括：请求表、外观设计产品视图图片、对外观设计产品的简要说明。涉及委托的，需要提交委托书。
申请材料符合要求的情况下，确定专利申请日。需要注意的是，若申请材料是通过传真或电子邮件方式传送给BPO时，需要在1个月内将申请原件提供给BPO，原件提交日视为申请日。
保加利亚外观设计专利不进行实质审查，即只审查申请材料是否符合规范要求以及是否完成官费缴纳。
审查有问题的，BPO通知申请人在两个月内进行补正，未补正或补正不符合要求，申请视为撤回。
若最终审查认为不予授予外观设计专利权，申请人在收到通知后两个月内可以对决定提出异议。
通过审查予以授予专利权的，申请人在收到通知后一个月内，根据通知要求缴纳授权费与专利年费。未交费的视为撤回申请。
保加利亚外观设计专利的保护期自申请日起算，最长为25年，其中授予专利权后基础保护期10年，可续展3次，每次续展延长5年保护期。

The Bulgarian Patent Office (BPO) is responsible for providing examination and protection for inventions, utility models, integrated circuit layout designs, plant varieties, and industrial designs in Bulgaria.
Bulgaria is a member state of the Hague System of Design and a member of the European Union, so applying for a Bulgarian design patent can be done through: submitting the application directly to BPO, designating Bulgaria through the Hague System, or applying in the European Union (designating the EU through the Hague System) and taking effect in Bulgaria.
This issue mainly introduces design patents.
Applicants can submit Bulgarian design patent application documents through electronic services provided by BPO, paper application document delivery, and fax.
If the applicant does not have a residence or business office in Bulgaria, they should entrust an agent to handle it on their behalf.
The application documents include: a request form, a view image of the design product, and a brief description of the design product. For matters involving delegation, a power of attorney must be submitted.
If the application materials meet the requirements, the patent application date shall be determined. It should be noted that if the application materials are transmitted to BPO by fax or email, the original application must be provided to BPO within one month, and the submission date of the original will be considered as the application date.
Bulgarian design patents do not undergo substantive examination, only examining whether the application materials meet the regulatory requirements and whether official fees have been paid.
If there are issues with the examination, BPO shall notify the applicant to make corrections within two months. If no corrections are made or the corrections do not meet the requirements, the application shall be deemed withdrawn.
If the final examination finds that the design patent right is not granted, the applicant may raise an objection to the decision within two months after receiving the notice.
If the patent right is granted through examination, the applicant shall pay the authorization fee and patent annual fee according to the requirements of the notice within one month after receiving the notice. Failure to pay shall be deemed as withdrawal of the application.
The protection period of a Bulgarian design patent starts from the date of application and is up to 25 years. The basic protection period after granting the patent right is 10 years, which can be renewed 3 times, with each renewal extending the protection period by 5 years.
