Introduction
Togo · Nigeria · Côte d'Ivoire · Ghana
Session 1 of the 140th Canton Fair has wrapped up. Have you sourced your ideal products at the fair? If not, explore Guangzhou’s nine major wholesale market clusters — you may discover unexpected gems!
This guide compiles nine major markets, sorted by category, with addresses and metro station information.
What Is Inside
01
Garments & Fast Fashion
Garments are the first line of business for most West African traders. This segment is the volume end: basic, repeatable styles, low unit prices, and orders counted in cartons rather than pieces.
Buyers building a full container usually start at the large trade cities on the edge of the city, where prices are quoted for export and the paperwork is simpler.
Guangda Garment City
About 500,000 sqm of wholesale floors out in Shijing, Garments form its core category, alongside footwear, bags and general daily goods. Around 70% of vendors here focus on export trade.
This wholesale cluster is among Guangzhou’s market procurement trade pilot zones (customs code 1039). This is critical when consolidating a full container by combining orders from numerous small suppliers.
Address|8 Shitan West Road, Baiyun District (Shijing)
Metro| Line 8 Shijing, then a short taxi ride (5–8 min)
Best for|Buyers filling a whole container across several categories, and those who want a simpler export-declaration channel.
Pro tip
The market mainly serves buyers with full-container shipments and is not suitable for merchants placing small orders.
02
Comprehensive Wholesale Zone
This market zone is within 1km of Sanyuanli Metro Station. Garment, wig, beauty and general trade malls are all walkable. Local vendors are used to English/French buyers. Shipments go to Lagos, Lome, Abidjan and Tema, with many clients reordering each season.
Yulong Garment City
A dense garment building right on Guangyuan West Road, carrying mid-to-low priced menswear, womenswear and children's clothing with fast turnover and low minimums.
Address|235 Guangyuan West Road, Yuexiu District
Metro| Line 2 Sanyuanli
Best for|Buyers who want to see a lot of styles quickly and place small top-up orders.
Pro tip
Work top-down. Upper floors pay less rent and quote lower.
Canaan Sourcing Center
It operates exclusively for overseas buyers and has been recognized as a must-visit market for foreign merchants. It is also a member unit of the Africa & China Trade Association and Middle East & China Trade Association.
Most buyers here are from Africa. All stalls are equipped for foreign trade: English-speaking sales staff, export packaging services, and mixed-size orders are available.
Address|94 Guangyuan West Road (floors 1–3), Yuexiu District
Metro| Line 2 Sanyuanli
Best for| Ideal for first-time buyers looking for a market tailored to export trade, not domestic wholesale.
Pro tip
Since these suppliers handle exports already, ask them the same questions you would put to a factory: can you pack according to my container loading plan, can you make custom labels, and what is the lead time for repeat orders?
Tongtong Trade City
One single building houses garments, shoes, hats, bags, cosmetics, daily necessities, stationery, toys and handicrafts.
For buyers planning multi-item consolidated shipments in one container, it is ideal to fill the remaining cubic space of the container.
Address|101 Guangyuan West Road, Yuexiu District
Metro|Line 2 Sanyuanli
Best for|Buyers consolidating many categories into one shipment.
Pro tip
Visit this place last, not first. Check out the basement and ground floor while keeping your remaining container space in mind, and source small items unavailable at other markets.
Wufu Garment City
It offers mid-to-low priced women’s, children’s and mature-age clothing, mostly in stock. Mixed batch requirements are low, with a broad price range. For high-volume styles, unit prices can fall to single-digit RMB.
Address|499–523 Sanyuanli Avenue, Yuexiu District
Metro|Line 2 Sanyuanli, Exit C2, about 500 m on foot
Best for|Volume buyers supplying street markets, night markets and supermarkets.
Pro tip
Flexible mixed batches are this market’s strength, yet quality differs from stall to stall. Check items at the bottom of the bundle, not just the top. Confirm which fabric weight and size range the quoted price applies to.
03
Huimei — The Quality Side
Volume-driven markets compete on price, while this type of quality-focused market offers OEM finished goods. The difference lies not only in fabric quality. More importantly, suppliers can reliably replicate the same quality for the next season.
Huimei International Garment City
It offers mid-to-low priced fast-fashion womenswear. Minimal, street and retro styles are all available within this single building.
Address| 139 Huanshi West Road, Liwan District
Metro| Line 5 Xicun
Best for|Ideal for buyers wanting to source multiple aesthetics in one stop, without travelling between separate markets.
Pro tip
Ask which stalls can make your custom labels and packaging. In a mall of this scale, roughly one in five can offer this service — these are the vendors worth coming back for a second visit.
04
Shoes, Bags & Leather
Footwear and bags are high-value, fast-moving categories for West African markets. Guangzhou’s supply chain is unusually concentrated: nearly all the goods you need lie within a few kilometres of Sanyuanli and the railway station.
The upside is you can compare three suppliers in one afternoon; the downside is the first stall that gives you a favourable price is not necessarily the best option.
Zhanxi Road Shoe Cluster
Guangzhou's most concentrated footwear wholesale belt, represented by Eurlu Shoe City, Tianma Shoe City and Buyun Tiandi. Men's, women's, children's and sports shoes across the full price range.
Address|Zhanxi Road, Yuexiu District
Metro|Line 2 / Line 5 Guangzhou Railway Station, short walk
Best for|Buyers who want to compare many suppliers of the same category in one morning.
Pro tip
Ask for the size run before you discuss price. A cheap quote often means an incomplete size curve.
Baiyun World Leather Trading Center
Around 50,000 sqm and 1,800+ shops of bags, belts and leather goods, from premium custom pieces to mass-market lines.
Address|1356–1358 Jiefang North Road, Baiyun District
Metro|Line 2 Sanyuanli
Best for|Ideal for buyers who source bags as their main product category.
Pro tip
This mall extends far inward. Visit the upper floors first to check the full product range, then head downstairs to negotiate. Stalls on the ground floor face the highest rent, so their quotations tend to be pricier.
Zhonggang Leatherware Mall
Mid-to-high-end original bags. OEM, ODM and OBM capability, which means suppliers here can work from your drawing, your sample, or your brand.
Address|11 Sanyuanli Avenue, Baiyun District
Metro|Line 2 Sanyuanli
Best for|Buyers building their own label
Pro tip
Bring a physical sample or a clear specification sheet. Verbal descriptions of a bag rarely hold up through sampling.
05
Wigs & Hair
One category worthy of a dedicated buying trip is hair products. Wigs, hair extensions, braids and lace wigs are not niche items in Togo, Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana. Instead, they are fast-moving consumer goods with steady repeat purchases.
Their common pitfall is colour matching between samples and bulk goods.
Guangzhou Beauty Expo City
The basement level is a concentrated wig wholesale zone with over a hundred merchants. Single-piece sampling and mixed batches across multiple styles are both normal here. Upstairs, the building continues into cosmetics and beauty equipment.
Address|121 Guangyuan West Road, Yuexiu District
Metro|Line 2 Sanyuanli
Best for|Ideal for first-time buyers in Guangzhou who want to understand the market before placing formal orders.
Pro tip
Gather 10–15 samples covering different price tiers. Photograph each sample alongside its price tag, then head to specialist markets for bulk orders.
Tangqi International Wig City
A dedicated wig market next door to Beauty Expo City. More than 80% of the merchants are local factory-direct, with strong supply in human hair, lace fronts and custom repair-and-fill orders. Most start at 5 pieces, and bulk pricing is meaningfully lower. Custom production runs 3–7 days.
Address|130–132 Guangyuan West Road, Yuexiu District
Metro|Line 2 Sanyuanli
Best for|Buyers who already know their specification and want factory-direct pricing at low MOQ.
Pro tip
Ask for the colour code in writing, photograph the sample under daylight, and keep one sealed piece from the bulk shipment.
Ziyuangang Wig Cluster
The dense wig street cluster along the Baiyun–Yuexiu border. Prices run more than 30% below retail, and loose-batch buying is flexible.
Address|Ziyuangang area, Baiyun / Yuexiu border
Metro|Line 2 Sanyuanli
Best for|Ideal for buyers looking for flexible small batches
Pro tip
Buyers are advised to check the entire street before placing orders. Prices for identical goods can vary by up to 30% among different stalls, mainly due to hair density.
06
Cosmetics & Personal Care
Beauty Expo City, Upper Floors
On the upper floors of the same building as the wig section, you can find cosmetics, skincare products, beauty tools and beauty equipment.
Address|121 Guangyuan West Road, Yuexiu District
Metro| Line 2 Sanyuanli
Best for|Buyers sourcing hair and beauty goods in one trip — an efficient half-day visit.
Pro tip
Cosmetics carry regulatory and labelling requirements at the destination port. Confirm what documentation the supplier can provide before you pay.
07
Toys, Gifts & Sundries
Wanling Plaza
A concentrated wholesale hub for toys, novelties and gifts, with more structure.
Address|Jiefang South Road, Yuexiu District
Metro|Line 2 / Line 6 Haizhu Square
Best for|Ideal for merchants who want to purchase toys and gifts in one stop within a market with relatively transparent pricing.
Pro tip
This is one of Guangzhou's market-procurement pilot sites, so suppliers here are used to export paperwork.
08
Electronics & Mobile Accessories
New Asia Electronic City
Guangzhou's main electronics wholesale cluster, along Xidi Er Road. Thousands of shops selling phone accessories, Bluetooth speakers, earphones, phone cases, screen protectors, memory cards and USB drives.
Most of the trade is export, and many shop owners speak English.
Address|55 Xidi Er Road, Liwan District
Metro| Line 6 Culture Park, Exit B, about 5 min on foot
Best for|Buyers sourcing phone accessories and small electronics for export.
Pro tip
MOQs here are low — one box of loose-packed screen protectors for a single phone model, 20 to 25 pieces, is normal.
Goods usually come without retail packaging, which makes it easier to put your own brand on them.
09
Auto Parts & Hardware
Yongfu Road Auto Parts Market
Guangzhou's established auto parts street, covering Japanese, European and domestic vehicle models.
Address|Yongfu Road, Yuexiu District
Metro|Line 5 Xiaobei, ~15 min walk or a short DiDi ride
Best for|deal for merchants already in auto parts business who source goods by part numbers.
Pro tip
Bring part numbers, not photos.
Practical Tips for Buying in Guangzhou
01
Opening hours
Wholesale markets are not shopping malls. Most stalls are busiest before 10 a.m. and close between 4 and 5 p.m. Some markets close on Sundays.
02
MOQ and bargaining
The initial quotation is usually the retail unit price. Prices vary with order quantity. Be sure to ask for the best price for your target volume.
03
Payment
Cash in RMB is still the most universally accepted. WeChat Pay and Alipay now support foreign cards. For larger amounts use a bank transfer or company account, and always keep the receipt.
04
Order placement, order follow-up and new product updates all take place on WeChat.
05
Counterfeit risk
Counterfeit goods exist in these markets, and both Chinese customs and destination customs seize them. For long-term business, ask for no-logo or licensable goods.
06
How to ship it
After purchasing, the most practical question is: how to ship your goods back. You may contact us, E&C Logistics. We support your China-Africa trade journey.
07
Safety and moving around
Keep your buyer badge and visa stay valid, do not carry large amounts of cash in one place, use DiDi or a driver arranged by your hotel.
08
Language
Most stall owners here speak only Chinese and simple English. If you need interpretation, we can provide a free interpreter to accompany you around the market.
