Under the EU customs reform, after scrapping the sub-€150 duty-free break and a temporary €3/item duty from 7.1, from 11.1 a €2 per-item Union handling fee applies to all distance sales regardless of value, and Product Identifiers (PIDs) become mandatory—missing PIDs mean rejected declarations and held parcels—raising EU-entry compliance cost for cross-border parcels and e-commerce air cargo.

Shanghai Shipping Exchange data on 10.16: SCFI closed at 3,679.58 (+15.47 pts, +0.42% WoW) and CCFI at 1,922.64 (+0.5%); by lane, Europe 20ft rose ~3% to $2,335 and Med +8% to $3,250, while US West 40ft fell $59 to $7,525 and US East -$119 to $10,405—clear lane divergence.

On 10.18 China Southern's CZ5225 B777 freighter flew Guangzhou–Nairobi with 92t of cargo on its maiden East Africa route; the return carries African flowers and fresh produce. Africa-bound export volume at China Southern is up 80%+ YoY, widening the Greater Bay Area's direct air corridor to Africa.

Qatar Airways Cargo's 2026 winter adds several freighters: weekly Copenhagen from 10.25, Warsaw–Chicago from 10.26, weekly New York JFK from 11.1 and twice-weekly Dallas—via its Doha hub, boosting Europe and North America capacity for pharma, tech, perishables and time-critical cargo.

China State Railway's new freight diagram from 10.10 18:00 sets 96 fixed China-Europe block-train routes, optimizing returns (adding Alashankou→Yulin and Erenhot→Jinan); Central Asia services reach 68 routes (adding Zhengzhou–Khorgos among 3). Rail cross-border products keep improving, offering a stable land corridor for China–Europe trade.
