Recently, scam messages disguised as delivery pickup notifications have been circulating. The messages may make a link appear as a blue “pickup code,” prompting recipients to click and check their package information.
Police advise the public to be especially cautious if a delivery message contains a blue pickup code, typos or traditional Chinese characters, or is accompanied by an unfamiliar phone number.
Here are the red flags you shoold watch for
A blue, clickable pickup code: A pickup code shouldn't require you to click a suspicious link.
Weird wording or typos: Something feels off? Don't ignore it. And yes, I know it's not easy to spot these things if you don't read Mandarin. So if you're not sure whether that message is legit, DON'T CLICK. Better safe than sorry buddy!
Unfamiliar numbers or links: Don't trust a message just because it looks like a courier notification.
Remember, just three simple rules:
Don't click suspicious links.
Don't call back unfamiliar numbers in the message.
Don't reply or share your bank details and SMS verification codes.
Want to check your parcel? Always open the shopping platform or courier's official app yourself. Don't follow a random link sent to your phone.
Already clicked? Damn, what did I just told you!! Ok. don't panic. If you entered bank details or shared a verification code, contact your bank immediately and secure your accounts.
Remember, buddy, whenever you are not sure, just don't click.
