是生命的主要形态之一，
从古至今
它们在自然界中都有非常重要位置。
云南地形和气候复杂，
为云南生物的多样性创造了条件，
因而被称为是“植物王国”。
Plants are one of the main morphological characteristics on the planet, as well as an important part of nature. Yunnan has a complex natural environment and breeds extremely rich biological resources, which is known as the “plant kingdom”.

昆明植物园，
是云南植物界的缩影。
昆明植物园始建于1938年，
全称是“中国科学院昆明植物研究所昆明植物园”
园区开放面积44公顷，
分为东、西两个园区，
建有15个专类园，
收集保育植物8,840余种。
Founded in 1938, with 60 years of history and a total area of 44 hectares, Kunming Botanical Garden (which is divided into the west and the east park), is a valuable introduction to the live collection of garden plants in Yunnan. Over 8,840species of plants have been collected, with 15 specialized class botanical gardens.

“扶荔宫”，
是世界上最早有文字记载的温室，
汉武帝时期曾建于上林苑中
用于栽种南方佳果和奇花异木。
昆明植物园扶荔宫，
是由吴征镒院士借用此典故命名的温室群。
温室主体由：热带雨林馆、
热带沙漠馆和热带水生馆组成。
现已保存热带特色植物2500余种，
充分展示了“植物王国”丰富的物种多样性。
昆明植物园扶荔宫也成为了COP15永久性成果展示点。
The Fuligong Greenhouse in Kunming Botanical Garden is a greenhouse group consisting of a tropical rainforest garden, a tropical desert garden, and a tropical aquatic plants garden. The original “Fuligong” was built in the Shanglin Royal Garden by Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, which was designed for cultivating tropical delicious fruits, rare flowers, and unique trees from South China. The prominent botanist and fellow of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Wu Zhengyi used the allusion and named these greenhouses when it was first built. Until now, more than 2500 plant species have been well cultivated and horticulturally maintained in the greenhouses, and it's presenting the rich biodiversity and typical ecological landscape of Yunnan, which is famous as "Plant Kingdom", as well as serves as an achievement display of COP 15.
扶荔宫—温室主体
昆明植物园扶荔宫内，
有一种神奇的热带植物—望天树，
这种植物还记录着云南雨林的一段历史。
在20世纪60年代以前，
西双版纳雨林还未被发现，
直到1974年，
在西双版纳发现了第一棵望天树，
这个中国高纬度、高海拔地带、
保存最大面积的热带雨林才被发现。
There is an interesting history of the parashorea cathayensis in the Fuligong greenhouse: the fact that the rainforest does exist in Yunnan was not admitted since the first parashorea cathayensis was found in Xishuangbanna in 1974.

每年10月至12月
金缕梅园也到了最美的时候，
沿着植物园主干道栽培了788株枫香树，
形成了著名景点枫香大道，
成为了春城靓丽的秋日名片，
犹如绚丽斑斓的童话之境。
Hamamelis family garden is one of the unique gardens of Kunming Botanical Garden, of which people of Spring City Kunming are greatly proud. The sweetgums start changing color from October to December. A total of 788 Chinese sweetgum trees grow along both sides of the main road, presenting the garden's most famous scenery called Sweetgum Avenue.

银杏，
最早出现于2.7亿年前的石炭纪，
是中生代孑遗的稀有树种，
系中国特产，
是中国国家一级保护野生植物。

11月的银杏还没有黄透，
一叶黄一叶绿，
缀满枝头青黄交错，
带着生机与丰收的美。
The Ginkgo plant is a species of tree native to China. It is the last living species in the order Ginkgoales, which first appeared over 270 million years ago. It is “Ⅰ-class national protection of wild plants ”. In November, you can see the seasonal changes in the ornamental foliage, and fruit plants garden，and the leaves shift from green to yellow, orange, and red.

植物除了观赏价值，
不得不提的还有药用价值。
昆明植物园内的百草园，
是云南特色药用植物园，
名字来源于“神农尝百草”。
拥有重要药用植物171科1000余种。
这里能看到云南最具特色的中草药，
赏百草之姿，享生态之美。
In addition to ornamental importance, many plants have are having useful medicinal properties as well. Medicinal Herb Garden was established in 1979 . More than 1,000 medicinal plant species from 171 families have already been ex-situ cultivated and exhibited in the garden. The name of ‘Bai Cao Yuan' in Chinese( meaning of numerous medicinal plants garden)was from the allusion" Shen Nong( the mythological Father of Chinese medicine) Tastes Hundreds of Herbs".
