U Bein Bridge,
is located in the low-lying area of the Taungthaman Lake, southern Mandalay.
Every year when the lake swells in the rains,
The bridge will help people across the lake safely.

缅甸敏东王下令修建此桥
为了使桥梁百年不朽
特地使用了缅甸国宝级的柚木铆合而成
经历了170年的风风雨雨
乌本桥至今依然车水马龙
The U Bein Bridge, which was built in 1851 by King Mindon. The bridge, piers, bridge decks are all made of teak, which is still well preserved after 170 years,
and is also a popular place for both tourists and locals.

城市街道横平竖直
这里曾是缅甸古王朝建都的地方

The U Bein Bridge
is located in the ancient city of Amarabula in Mandalay.
Mandalay, the second-largest city in Myanmar,
Is located on the east bank of the Irrawaddy River,
and in south-central Burma.
It was once the capital of the ancient Burmese dynasty,
especially the Ava dynasty
so it was called "Wa Cheng (Ava City)" by the Chinese people who settled here.

The U Bein Bridge,
stretching 1.2 kilometers over the Taungthaman Lake,
was built at a slight curve, and is supported by over a thousand wooden pillars that were hammered into the bottom of the shallow lake.

供行人遮阳避雨
Myanmar is known as the "Land of Buddhism".

Six pavilions were built along the bridge,
which keeps pedestrians sheltered from rain and wind.

The six pavilions present the Six Principles of Reverent Harmony：
Moral harmony through sharing the same precepts;
Physical harmony through living together;
Verbal harmony through avoiding disputes;
Mental harmony through shared happiness;
Harmony in view through sharing the same understanding;
Economic harmony through sharing things equally.

因此
乌本桥也被人们亲切地称为“情人桥”
The bridge also presents the spirit of
uniting with one heart and one mind,
as many couples express their love and gratitude to each other on the U Bein Bridge,
it is also known as the bridge of love.

At the end of U Bein Bridge,
is the largest monastery in Myanmar - Mahagandhayon Monastery. The best time to go to the bridge is at sunset, when you see several monks making their way back to the monastery. Hundreds of locals and saffron-robed monks walk along with it, together constituting a unique scenic.
