金平蝴蝶谷，
位于云南红河金平县马鞍底乡，
地处北回归线以南，
属滇南低纬高原季风气候，
全年平均气温为18摄氏度左右，
气候温和雨量充沛。
In the south of the Tropic of Cancer, there is an amazing Butterfly Valley. Located in the Ma’andi township of Jinping county, which lies in the south of China, with a typical plateau monsoon climate, abundant rainfall, and perfect annual average temperature of 18 degrees Celsius.
每年五、六月份，
金平县马鞍底乡的蝴蝶谷
都会迎来一场堪称世界奇观的蝴蝶盛会，
白袖箭环蝶大爆发成为蝴蝶谷的一大奇观。
1亿多只白袖箭环蝶齐聚在狭小的区域，
现场宛如一片金色的蝴蝶海洋，
场面十分壮观震撼。
Every year in May and June, Butterfly Valley will experience a boom as millions of caterpillars morph into butterflies. There stands a wonder of the world in the hinterland of Yunnan province, where a total number of stichophthalma louisa is expected to surpass 100 million. The whole valley turns to be a sea of golden butterflies, which is one of the greatest feats of nature.

漫山遍野都生长着白袖箭环蝶的寄主植物
——中华大节竹，
加之高差明显的垂直地带变化，
复杂多样的小区域生态，
低纬度热带气候，
干湿分明的季节变化，
尤其适合蝴蝶生存。
The host plant of Stichophthalma louisa-the Indosasa sinica is all over the hills in Ma’andi township. The various topographic types, regional ecological environment, and complicated climate provide perfect living conditions for the butterflies.
中国的蝴蝶种类有12科，
马鞍底乡就有11科111属。
据统计，
马鞍底乡境内的蝴蝶种类可达400余种，
单位区域蝴蝶种类数量位居世界第一，
成为世界生物多样性的一大奇观。
China is home to 12 families of butterfly species, and Ma’andi township in the south of Yunnan, where has one of the world's most abundant butterfly populations, with more than 111 genera and 220 species of 11 families. According to the statistics, there are more than 400 butterfly species in this region. The region ranks first in the world in the number of butterfly species, and it is one of the natural wonders of the world's biodiversity.
初春，
在海拔400米到800米地带，
可看到蛱蝶、凤蝶、眼蝶等蝶类；
In the early spring, butterflies such as the Nymphalidae butterfly, Papilionidae butterfly, and Satyridae butterfly can be seen between 400 and 800 meters above sea level in this area.
四、五月份，
是马鞍底蝴蝶种类最丰富的时节，
许多珍稀、特有的蝶类都可寻到它们美丽的身影，
如喙凤蝶、裳凤蝶等；
Every April and May are the best seasons to observe the most diverse species of butterflies. Many rare and endemic butterflies can be found in this period, such as the Teinopalpus imperialis, Common birdwing, etc.
九、十月份，
在海拔1300米至3000米的地域，
可看到珍稀的褐钩凤蝶等蝶类。
冬季，
在低热河谷地区可看到，
斑蝶、灰蝶、粉蝶等数十种蝶类。
If you want to get close to rare butterflies such as the Meandrusa sciron, 1,300 to 3,000 meters above sea level in September and October in this area will be the best choice, and there are dozens of butterfly species, such as the Danaidae butterfly, Lycaenidae butterfly, Pieridae butterfly, and Nymphalidae butterfly will show up in winter in the valley region.
马鞍底的蝴蝶资源十分丰富，
一年四季都能看到蝴蝶美丽的身影，
这些色彩斑斓的美丽蝴蝶，
与这里的森林、瀑布、蘑菇房相映成趣，
构成了 一幅美不胜收的神奇画卷。
Home to one of the world's most abundant butterfly populations, you can get close to different kinds of butterflies all year round in the butterfly valley. These beautiful butterflies flying over the forests, waterfalls, and unique mushroom houses, offer tourists a magnificent feast all of its own.
