Jin Yong's "Tian Long Ba Bu" let people know about nanzhao and Dali, and the real Nanzhao is located in the ancient city of Wei Shan in Dali, Yunnan province.
与大理相比，
巍山显得低调而安静，
如果你穷尽了苍山洱海的温柔，
想探索更慵懒古朴的古城，
巍山是不二的选择。
Compared to Dali, Weishan is low-key and quiet, and if you want to explore the more languid and quaint old city after exhausting the gentleness of Cangshan and Erhai, Weishan is the place to go.
巍山历史悠久，
旧名蒙化，
后因县城东的巍宝山而得名巍山，
是南诏古国的发祥地和古都，
茶马古道重镇和彝族寻根祭祖圣地，
云南四大"文献名邦″之一。
Weishan has a long history and was named Menghua in the past. Weishan was named after The Weibao Mountain in the east of the county. It is the birthplace and ancient capital of Nanzhao Ancient Country, an important town on the Tea-horse Ancient Road and a holy land for the Yi people to search for their roots and worship their ancestors.
巍山的每一座古楼、古寺、古桥...
都是一部厚重的史书，
上面写满了历史的沧桑，
也闪耀着文明的光芒。
Every ancient building, temple and bridge in Weishan... Both are massive historical books, full of the vicissitudes of history, but also shining with the light of civilization.
巍山古城
Weishan Old Town
巍山古城位于哀牢山下，是中国历史文化名城。始建于元代的古城，在明代改为砖城，如今风貌依旧。另外，巍山是云南推行土司制度时间最长的地区之一，其悠久的历史孕育了众多寺观庙宇，与众多的自然景观遥相呼应。
Weishan Old Town is located at the foot of Ailao Mountain. It is a historical and cultural city known as the cradle of Nanzhao Kingdom. First built in Yuan Dynasty, Weishan Old Town has been changed to the brick city and remained the style and features until today. As the place that carry out Tusi System for the longest time in Yunnan, the long history of Weishan breeds numerous temples, echoing with the natural landscape at the diatance.
巍山古城以拱辰楼为中心，内有25条街、18条巷呈棋盘式标准的井字型结构，完整的保留了明、清时代建筑式样和风格。
Center on Gongcheng Tower, the streets in Weishan Old Town present standard grid-beam structure. In total of 25 streets and 18 alleys, the residences in Weishan Old Town remain the traditional Chinese construction. Among them, the residences along the principal axis preserve the architectural style and features of Ming and Qing Dynasty.
从拱辰楼到星拱楼这条街道，两侧街道罗列着红色木质房屋，瓦片屋顶，有着这座古城最传统的样貌。
The street running from Gongchen Tower to Xinggong Tower is lined on both sides with red wooden shop houses with tiled roofs, and has the most traditional look and feel of any street in the city.
美食

过江饵丝（Guojiang Ersi noodle）
巍山𤆵肉饵丝的吃法多种多样，其中过江饵丝最为出名。过江饵丝，是饵丝和𤆵肉各单独一碗，顾客将少量饵丝夹入专门盛放𤆵肉的碗中，“过”（浸润）一下，再食用。
Weishan Ersi eat a variety of methods, which Guojiang Ersi noodle the most famous. Guojiang Ersi, like noodles with meat, is also a popular choice.

一根面 （A strip of noodle）
一根面又名一股头拉面、长寿面，以前要在为老人祝寿时才能吃到，既寓意着根脉不断，也是地道的吉祥美食，最长的面条可以容纳1000人同时食用。
Yigen noodles, also known as A strip of noodles or longevity noodles, can only be eaten when celebrating the birthday of the elderly, which consists of one very long noodle. It's so long that one bowl can feed as many as 1,000 people.
巍宝山
Weibao Mountain
巍宝山是古南诏国的发祥地之一，以道教圣地而闻名。唐朝中期，南诏国大力倡导佛教。巍宝山虽是大理地区重要的道教圣地，但佛教元素也渗透到巍宝山，例如观音殿、甘露亭等都可体现。所以它也是以道教为主、佛教兼容的山岳之一。
Weibao Mountain was the birthplace of Nanzhao State and well-known for its sacred Taoist site. And it is also one of the famous mounTaoism based, Buddhism compatible. In the Middle of Tang Dynasty, Nanzhao Kingdom vigorously advocated Buddhism. Although Weibao Mountain is still the important Taoist Temple in Dali area, the Buddhist elements permeated into Weibao Mountain, which can be seem in Guanyin Temple and Ganlu Pavillion.
