地处北回归线上的腾冲，是中国的四处大规模的火山分布区之一，境内已查明的火山有97座，其中火山口保持完好的约有25座，这些历经千百万年的汹涌喷发后，进入漫长沉睡期的大大小小的火山，造就了腾冲独特的温泉文化。
Located on the Tropic of Cancer, Tengchong is one of the biggest volcano areas in China. There are 97 identified volcanoes in the territory, and 25 of them were well preserved. These volcanoes' eruption history dates back as far as thousand years ago, and now they are in their dormancy period, which nurtured a unique hot spring culture in Tengchong.

作为中国三大地热区之一，这里地热温度之高，水热活动之强烈较为罕见。境内有沸泉、气泉、喷泉等温泉群上百处，热气、热泉遍地喷涌，气势磅礴，境内散落着80余处各具特色的地热温泉，且泉水饱含多种对人体有益的矿物质，自古以来就有“一泓热海”的美称。
As one of the three geothermal areas in China, the high geothermal temperature and intense hydrothermal activity here are very precious. There are hundreds of different types of hot springs in this area, with more than 80 pools. There are many minerals in the springwater that are good for human health, hence the name Hot Sea since time immemorial.

亿万年前亚欧大陆与印巴次大陆板块的激烈碰撞，造就了温泉资源丰富的腾冲热海。其中最令人震撼的是腾冲西南总面积近10平方公里的腾冲热海景区，是国家5A级风景名胜区，也是腾冲地热资源最为丰富的地方。
Tengchong Hot Sea Scenic Area, which has abundant hot spring resources, was created by the plate collision between Eurasia and Indo-Pakistan subcontinents hundreds of millions of years ago. One of the most impressive thing of the Tengchong Hot Sea Scenic Area is the total area of nearly 10 square kilometers southwest of Tengchong, which is an AAAAA national scenic spot and owns the most abundant geothermal resources in Tengchong.

热海景区位于腾冲县城西南20公里。热海并不是海，而是一个热气蒸腾的山谷。拥有的气泉、温泉群共有80余处，其中10个温泉群的水温达90℃以上。山谷密林中、崖壁间、地面上，到处都可以看到热泉在呼呼喷涌。
The Hot Sea Scenic Area is located 20 kilometers southwest of Tengchong county. The Hot Sea is not a real sea, but a steam-shrouded valley. There are more than 80 gas springs and hot springs, and the water temperatures of 10 hot spring groups are more than 90℃. Hot springs can be seen everywhere in the valleys and forests, and between the cliffs.

它是中国第二大热田，由热海石、大滚锅、浴谷、怀胎井、珍珠泉、美女池等成，是中国地热疗养的最佳之地。热海景区以黄瓜箐、澡塘河、硫磺塘为中心，气泉热泉很多，其中最为壮观的便是大滚锅。
It is the second biggest geothermal field in China, which consists of the Rehaishi Spring, the Yugu Spring, the Pregnancy-inducing Well, the Big Boiling Pot, Pearl Spring, the Pond of Beauties, etc. It is the best place for geothermal recuperation in China. The Hot Sea Scenic Area is centered on Huanggua Vally, Zaotang River, and Sulfur Pond. There are many gas springs and hot springs, and the most spectacular is the Big Boiling Pot.

腾冲被誉为“天然地质博物馆”，是中国四大火山群之一。地处世界瞩目的阿尔卑斯—喜玛拉雅地质构造带之印度板块和欧亚板块急剧聚敛的接合线上，为我国著名的火山密集区之一。谚语云：“好个腾越州，十山九无头”。这无头的山，十有八九是火山。

Located in the convergent hinge of the Indian plate and the Eurasian plate, and the Alps-Himalayan geological tectonic belt, Tengchong is one of the famous volcanic areas in China. As an old saying goes, “In Tengyue County, nine out of ten mountains are headless." Here the headless mountains refer to the volcanoes.
