供应商的好坏，从某种程度上决定了一个企业能否更好地服务客户，能否接到更多的订单。特别是对于贸易公司来说，供应商的选择尤为重要。一些企业能够发展壮大，得益于其强大的供应链。下面，让我们一起开启新的学习，“精读”供应商选择的实用会话吧！

Tom: Judy, why do you want to change the beans we use? You know that's not helpful for cost control. The Fair Trade-Certificated beans are much more expensive than our usual ones!
Judy: I know. But don't you think it's a good chance to improve the image of our brand? We could go on using the usual beans, but we also have to take the risk of being blamed for using "blood beans".
Tom: "Blood beans", what do you mean?
Judy: We have no idea why the price offered by our usual supplier is so low. Those beans might have been produced by workers who are paid with extremely low wages, or even with child labor. We can't afford to damage our brand and anyway, it's not ethical!
Tom: You're right! I've never thought about that. We need to be very careful about selecting suppliers and looking at how they treat the producers: working conditions, minimum age, working hours, safety, everything as well as prices.
Judy: Yes. A reasonable minimum price allows the coffee growers and workers to live a decent life. And it is also good for long-term planning and sustainable production. It guarantees we'll get top-quality beans, another benefit for our brand.
Tom: Great! We could make this a signature feature at Judy's Café: fair trade coffee!
Judy: And environment-friendly! Buying fair trade beans helps to promote more environment-friendly farming methods, which allows us to enjoy top-quality organic coffee without being worried about any chemicals such as pesticides.
Tom: Judy, I think you're on to a good thing here. We can make the brand warm and honest through practicing fair trade. That'll lead to success.
Judy: I think so!
