DAY 1: Arrival in Xishuangbanna

Arrival Xishuangbanna

Welcome to Xishuangbanna, the home of the Dai people! Upon arrival at Xishuangbanna Gasa Airport, we will transfer you to your hotel in Jinghong, the capital city. You can rest to recover from jet lag or explore the city at your own pace.

Free-time Ideas (If you arrive early): Visit Yuantong Temple (one of Kunming's oldest Buddhist temples with over 1,200 years of history) or walk around Kunming Green Lake to experience local leisure life.

Arrival Tips: Direct flights are available from major Chinese cities. Gasa Airport is about 7km from downtown Jinghong (15 min drive).

Optional Night Activity: Visit Gaozhuang Night Market (or Jiangbian Night Market) to savor fresh tropical fruits, Dai snacks, and shop for souvenirs.

DAY 2: Dai Culture & Royal History

Manting Park | Dai Minority Park | Zongfosi Temple

After breakfast, drive to Dai Minority Park in Olives Dam (approx. 30km). Known as the "Soul of Xishuangbanna," this park introduces Dai language, beliefs, customs, and traditions. Visit the 1,400-year-old Manchun Buddhist Temple and stroll through five well-preserved Dai villages. You may even rent traditional Dai attire.

Next, visit Manting Park, the former royal garden of the Dai Kingdom with 1,300 years of history. Admire Dai Buddhist architecture, including the Jingzhen Octagonal Pavilion and Manfeilong White Tower.

Finally, explore Zongfosi Temple, once exclusive to Dai Kings and the vital heart of Buddhist worship in the region. View the 2.5-meter-high golden statue of Sakyamuni Buddha and listen to the monks' chanting.

Optional Night Activity: Enjoy the Dai Ethnic Show Night at Manting Park (18:30~21:30) and join the Bonfire Party.

DAY 3: Wild Elephants & Jinuo Ethnic Village

Wild Elephant Valley | Jinuo Ethnic Village

Drive to Wild Elephant Valley (40km from Jinghong), a tropical wildlife observation spot. Walk along the tree-top gallery to spot wild elephants (best seen at dawn/dusk, but not guaranteed). Visit the Asian Elephant Museum, Butterfly Garden, Hundred Birds Garden, Monkey Park, and Python Park.

In the afternoon, visit Jinuo Ethnic Village, a cultural protection area offering insights into Jinuo culture through local performances. Jinuo Mountain is also famous for its tea.

Return to Jinghong hotel for the evening.

DAY 4: Tropical Botanical Garden

Tropical Botanical Garden

Visit Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (96km from Jinghong), home to over 13,000 plant species and interesting insects, including the rare Sapria Himalayana. Explore the 250-hectare primary tropical rainforest and subtropical evergreen broad-leaf forest. The West Area contains most highlights, while the East Area offers primitive trekking opportunities.

Note: Ganlanba is the hottest place in Xishuangbanna; please use sun protection.

Return to Jinghong after the tour.

景点详解 Attractions Detail

01. Manting Park (曼听公园)

The oldest park in Jinghong (1,300+ years), formerly the royal garden of the Dai Kingdom. Also known as "Chunhuan Park" (Soul Relaxing Park). Features include a bronze statue of Premier Zhou Enlai, Bodhi trees symbolizing China-Thailand friendship, Dai architecture, peacock shows, and elephant performances. Adjacent to Zongfosi Temple.

02. Ganlanba Dai Minority Park (傣族园)

Located in Ganlanba, 40km from Jinghong. Contains five well-preserved Dai villages. Known as the "most eye-catching feather" of Xishuangbanna. Visitors can explore traditional bamboo houses, Buddhist temples, and participate in the daily Water Splashing Ritual. Famous for Dai cuisine like Zhutong Fan (bamboo rice) and Nanmi.

03. Zongfosi Temple (总佛寺)

The leading and oldest Buddhist temple in Xishuangbanna (built in 615 AD). Formerly the holy land for Dai chieftains. Features include the Bodhi Tree planted by a Thai princess, various Buddha statues (including a unique seven-headed dragon statue), and grand Hinayana Buddhist architecture. It offers a panoramic view of Jinghong city.

04. Wild Elephant Valley (野象谷)

The only place in China to frequently see wild Asian elephants. Located in Mengyang Natural Reserve. Features include a 2,063-meter cableway, a 200-meter air corridor suspension bridge, treehouses, Butterfly Park, Snake Park, and Bird Garden. Best viewing times are dawn or dusk. Elephant shows are held daily at 11:00, 13:30, and 15:30.

05. Jinuo Ethnic Village (基诺族村寨)

Home to the Jinuo people, officially recognized as China's 55th ethnic minority in 1979. They are descendants of the Qiang people. The village offers insights into their oral-only language, animist religion (Sun Drum worship), and traditional lifestyle (farmer-hunter-gatherers). Traditional dress features bright colors and silver ornaments.

06. Tropical Botanical Garden / Primeval Forest Park (热带植物园/原始森林公园)

A comprehensive ecological park featuring primeval rainforest, wild animals, and ethnic culture. Highlights include the "Flight of a Thousand Peacocks" show, Nine-Dragon Waterfall, Ainu Village, and rare plant species like "living fossils." It was awarded one of China’s top ten most beautiful forests.

07. Gaozhuang Night Market (告庄夜市)

A vibrant night market illuminated by neon lights, located near giant golden pagodas. Offers local snacks, fruits, specialties, ethnic costumes, and handicrafts. Visitors can also take boat cruises along the river.

  • 7 days prior: Full refund (excluding air ticket fees).
  • 5 days prior: 50% refund OR 100% credit towards future trip.
  • Less than 5 days: No refund.

If FCN cancels the trip

All fees, including the deposit, will be immediately refunded.
