GARMENTS originated from a painting by founder Vanessa at the age of 17. Inspired by genes, she envisioned another possibility for clothing: garments can be like chromosomes—undefined, freely evolving, and transcending gender, age and style. The chromosome logo symbolizes connection and inclusiveness: just as everyone, regardless of identity, stage of life or attitude, can find their own language of dressing here. Liu Yi’s new large-scale public light sculpture Walking on Clouds has been permanently installed at Crystal Bridge in Shanghai, becoming a landmark public-art work in the Changning Hongqiao area. Constructed with stainless steel, acrylic, intelligent LED lighting and a spatial sound system, it captures a dynamic moment of striding and walking, blending the classical imagery of auspicious clouds with a bright yellow bird, breathing light, and the participatory Birds Radio project.
Together with eight works from the Light Messengers series, it forms a complete light-sculpture community of “multiple points, core focus and symbiotic cluster.” On September 24, Crystal Bridge hosted the roundtable “A Beam of Light Within Reach: Urban Public Aesthetics of Commerce, Art and Humanities,” bringing cross-sector guests into dialogue on public art and urban space.
