Jingsheng Faces US Patent Lawsuit as Linton Seeks Damages
Chinese solar equipment maker Jingsheng Mechanical & Electrical faces a US patent lawsuit from Linton Crystal Technologies, which is seeking damages and a permanent injunction over alleged infringement.

The US crystal-growth equipment maker said Wednesday that it filed the complaint in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas on September 22. It alleges that certain Jingsheng crystal-growth machines infringe two US patents.

The patents concern systems that lift and rotate seed crystals during the production of monocrystalline silicon ingots, a key material used in solar-cell and semiconductor manufacturing.

Linton said it was seeking damages and a permanent injunction to stop the alleged infringement.

"We will vigorously defend our patents and the ingenuity of our team," said Todd Barnum, an executive board member at Linton.

Jingsheng, based in Zhejiang province and listed in Shenzhen, supplies crystal-growth and processing equipment to the photovoltaic and semiconductor industries.

Jingsheng's shares closed down 3.78% at 40.70 yuan on Thursday.
