On 7 September, Sinopec Engineering (Group) Co., Ltd. (SEG) and AVEVA officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Mr. ZHANG Xinming, Executive Director and President of SEG, met with Mr. Caspar Herzberg, AVEVA Chief Executive Officer, and his delegation. The two sites held in-depth discussions on the petrochemical industry’s digital and intelligent transformation, smart manufacturing, and deepening strategic cooperation.
Mr. SUN Baoping, Vice President of SEG, and Ms. CUI Jingyi, AVEVA Vice President, General Manager of China, signed the agreement on behalf of both parties.
Looking to the Future of the Industry Expanding Practical Cooperation in Multiple Areas
Building on more than three decades of collaboration, SEG and AVEVA’s partnership has evolved from process simulation and engineering design to broader areas including planning optimization and production operations.
This MOU marks a new stage in their long-standing cooperation.
During the meeting, Mr. ZHANG Xinming stated that SEG and AVEVA share a long-standing partnership and have maintained sound cooperation over the past years. SEG has proprietary core technologies in traditional energy and chemical engineering, and is capable of providing integrated, end-to-end services across the full value chain. He added that the company is developing rapidly in new energy businesses, while its international business continues to grow steadily. At present, SEG is advancing its digital and intelligent transformation and accelerating exploration of AI applications.
He expressed the hope that, taking this signing as an opportunity, SEG and AVEVA will deepen cooperation in multiple key areas, enhance full value-chain service capabilities, build benchmark projects, share outcomes, cultivate new quality productive forces, empower industry development, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.
Mr. Caspar Herzberg spoke highly of SEG’s development achievements over the past decades and its contributions to China’s energy industry. He stated that after nearly 60 years of development, AVEVA has accumulated strong technological capabilities and extensive industry experiences in the global industrial software sector, and that the China market has always been an important part of AVEVA’s long-term development plan.
He added that the visit by AVEVA’s global management team further underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to continuing to increase investment in China and deepening its local presence. AVEVA attaches great importance to this strategic cooperation and will take it as an opportunity to further strengthen localized R&D and continue to launch new products that meet the requirements of China’s market and applicable standards.
In line with the trend of sustained development in industrial intelligence, AVEVA leverages the unified CONNECT platform to connect data workflows across engineering design, process simulation, and production operations. It adheres to an open software platform architecture and, drawing on mature data integration capabilities together with accumulated industrial knowledge graphs, helps customers build end-to-end autonomous operational capabilities.
A Partnership Proven Over Time
a Consensus Forged Through Practice
Cooperation between SEG and AVEVA has always been closely aligned with real engineering needs.
In 1988, Sinopec Luoyang (Guangzhou) Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred as SEG Luoyang) introduced PROCESS software - the predecessor of SimSci PRO/II - thereby established the foundation for the cooperation in process simulation.
Subsequently, as engineering design digitalization continued to advance, the SEG Luoyang and SINOPEC ENGINEERING INC. (SEI)successively adopted PDMS, further extending cooperation into the field of 3D engineering design.
In recent years, SEG has appliedAVEVA E3D in engineering design, continuing and upgrading its existing 3D design capabilities.
Meanwhile, cooperation in process simulation is also further extending toward process optimization, laying the foundation for subsequent operation optimization and intelligence maintenance applications.
Deepening Synergy, Unlocking New Opportunities
for Diversified Cooperation
In response to the ongoing and deepening digital and intelligent transformation of the energy and chemical industry, SEG and AVEVA will continue to leverage their respective strengths in engineering practice, industry know-how and industrial software.
The two sides will promote closer integration of AI, advanced industrial software and professional capabilities, jointly expand domestic and overseas markets, and explore more practical pathways to support the industry’s digital and intelligent development.
