EY’s Valuation & Business Modelling practice is currently looking for a Senior Analyst to join our Business Modelling team in Toronto.
You will focus on Business Modelling assignments but will also have the opportunity to work on Valuation assignments. Valuations & Business Modelling work provides the opportunity for a variety of assignments, from office-based to client-based work; from an assignment that lasts a couple of days to very large assignments working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. As no two projects are the same, the work requires a high level of adaptability, flexibility and innovation.
Business Modelling is regarded by many organizations as an integral and essential part of the decision making process. The Business Modelling team brings specialist expertise to the process of developing complex models for business planning and forecasting, transactions (corporate finance and project finance), decision support, risk analysis and business information. We also provide independent assurance for banks and other model users by reviewing financial, strategic and operational models built by our clients.
Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for:
Designing and building intermediate to complex business models.
Reviewing Excel models under supervision and preparing preliminary conclusions.
Understanding, manipulating and interpreting financial data and client information, drawing appropriate conclusions.
Developing an expert level understanding of Excel and other analytical tools.
Demonstrating ability to listen to clients and address their needs.
Valuing businesses, shares or intellectual property as part of a small team.
Responding to day-to-day queries raised by clients and attend client meetings.
Producing written file notes, letters, presentations and reports.
Delivering on time and on budget.
Generating ideas to maximize assignment profitability, supporting revenue generation initiatives.
Demonstrating teamwork and responsibility towards engagement team members.
Developing positive, productive and professional relationships with colleagues and clients.
Contributing to the broader EY business.
Skills and experience:
We are interested in candidates who have:
A degree or designation in business, finance or accounting, with a sound grasp of financial accounting, combined with a high level of business awareness and a strong understanding of the kinds of factors that drive financial performance.
A degree or demonstrated experience in computer science, or mathematics with a strong knowledge of programming, predictive analytical and statistical techniques.
Strong financial modelling skills, with the ability to create financial models based on our client's operational and financial business plans.
Demonstrated aptitude in quantitative and qualitative analysis with a natural interest in using it to help our clients to better understand their business or to make better business decisions.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Strong working knowledge of VBA, SQL, R, Matlab, Spotfire, Tableau, (preferred).
The ability and flexibility to work alongside team members to ensure the timely completion of work deliverables, and manage time spent against budget.
Excellent analytical, project management, multi-tasking, communication, organizational, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Depending on the needs of other sub-service lines in our Transaction Advisory Services practice, from time to time, you may be called upon to work in those sub-service lines. This position requires travel, as necessary.
