Black and Caspian Freight Forum 2026: Focusing on New Opportunities of the Middle Corridor

The Black and Caspian Freight Forum 2026 was held at the Four Seasons Hotel Baku, Azerbaijan, from September 7 to 9. Centered on the theme"Corridors, Infrastructure, Investment", this year's forum brought together representatives from railway, port, logistics, and financial institutions, as well as industry associations across the Black Sea and Caspian regions. Participants explored the region's new positioning and opportunities within the Eurasian logistics landscape amid the restructuring of global supply chains.

Maggie Zhong, Deputy General Manager of Neptune Logistics Group's Baku Branch, was invited to attend and speak at the second panel session titled"Middle Corridor: Resilience and Competitiveness". She joined logistics professionals from multiple countries to discuss operational challenges and development pathways for the Middle Corridor.

01 Forum Background: The Black Sea and Caspian Sea Emerging as a New Focus

In recent years, the strategic importance of the Black Sea and Caspian Sea regions has continued to rise alongside global supply chain restructuring and the diversification of Eurasian trade routes. As a land-sea hub linking Europe and Asia, Azerbaijan plays an increasingly critical role in east-west cargo flows. The Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route), an alternative route bypassing Russia and Belarus, has attracted growing attention from foreign trade enterprises and logistics operators.

02 Insights from Neptune Logistics: Multi-modal Transport Synergy Is Key

During the panel discussion, Maggie shared Neptune Logistics'first-hand operational experience, focusing on two core topics:"operational challenges of the Middle Corridor"and"the importance of localized presence". She emphasized that enhancing the synergy of multi-modal transport is crucial to addressing current bottlenecks.

On July 22, 2026, the Trans-Caspian Operations Center (Baku) of Neptune Logistics Group was officially opened in Baku, Azerbaijan. This move further strengthened the company's capability to coordinate Caspian Sea segment operations and subsequent transport legs from its local base.

03 Neptune Logistics'Trans-Caspian Offerings: End-to-End Services

The Trans-Caspian Corridor adopts a"rail-sea-rail"multi-modal transport model. Cargo departs from China, crosses the Caspian Sea via Kazakhstan, links up with Azerbaijan and Georgia, and further extends to Turkey and European markets. Compared with the traditional northern route, the Trans-Caspian route avoids core regulatory zones of the Eurasian Economic Union, featuring a relatively lenient compliance framework and fewer restrictions on certain cargo types. It presents an ideal alternative for shipments such as apparel and electronic equipment, as well as for customers sensitive to compliance and overall costs.

As an early logistics provider investing in the Trans-Caspian Corridor, Neptune Logistics maintains frequent block train services covering various origin and destination markets.

Neptune Logistics supports enterprises with end-to-end transport from domestic pickup to last-mile delivery in Europe:

Upholding the mission of"Building an end-to-end logistics ecosystem to simplify cross-border supply chains", Neptune Logistics will continue to deepen its localized operations along the Trans-Caspian Corridor. The company aims to optimize multi-modal transport synergy, integrate key resources such as capacity, ports, and terminals along the route, and remove bottlenecks. This effort will help more Chinese cargo owners facilitate Eurasian trade via the Middle Corridor and share in the new opportunities of regional logistics development.
