Is there a photo in your phone's gallery that you just can't bear to delete?
It might not be anything spectacular—the composition may be far from perfect, perhaps even a little blurry—but every time you scroll past it, you pause and take a second look.
On the overseas front lines, besides work photos, what Dongfeng Import & Export people store the most of in their phones is probably the group photos with their "cross-border partners."
This "cross-border partner" could be a senior colleague who guided your growth, a battle buddy who stayed up with you through tough challenges, or a foreign partner bound by mutual trust who needs just a gesture to understand your meaning...
Since the first installment of "My Cross-Border Partner" was released, it has received considerable attention and positive feedback. Today, four more frontline employees share their stories of working alongside their "cross-border partners."
Plateau Field Tests:We Are Each Other's Source of Confidence
Scrolling through my phone, two photos with my Peruvian local partner, Ernesto Gutierrez, capture my time cultivating the Latin American market—and hold warm stories of Chinese and foreign partners joining forces to overcome challenges and grow together.
The first photo was taken during a visit to a local partner's office. When we first entered the Peruvian market, I was familiar with Dongfeng's medium- and heavy-duty truck products and technologies, but I didn't know the local market rules or customer habits. My local partner Ernesto knew the local distribution channels and operating conditions inside out, but he wasn't fully up to speed on the highlights of the new models. He took me to visit major partners, explaining local transportation market preferences; in turn, I introduced product advantages and cooperation policies. Each of us filled in the other's gaps, step by step forging a path to promote sales in the Peruvian market.
The other photo captures a moment inside the cab during the first field test of a new gas-powered tractor. Peru has many plateaus and mountainous areas with harsh road conditions. To ensure the model was precisely adapted to local infrastructure and mining transport scenarios, Ernesto and I rode along together for the field test. In the cab of the new truck, we recorded data on fuel consumption, climbing performance, power, and more, repeatedly reviewing and fine-tuning details based on local usage habits—all to ensure a smooth launch and promotion of the new product.
Though mountains and seas separate us, our original aspirations connect us. From getting to know each other through trial and error to standing shoulder to shoulder to tackle challenges, Ernesto and I complement each other's strengths and break through obstacles together. In the future, we will continue to deepen our roots in the Peruvian market, take hold overseas through our tacit understanding, and let Dongfeng's medium- and heavy-duty trucks advance steadily.ily across the land of Latin America.

At the Dongfeng Motors Argentina launch event, Chen Siyu and I stood beside our local partners, posing for a group photo in front of the new vehicle. Smiles were on everyone's faces when the shutter clicked, but behind that photo were countless time-zone-crossing communications, repeatedly reviewed documents, and the meticulous execution of every detail at the event site.
During the preparation period, Chen Siyu and I divided our work clearly. I was mainly responsible for communicating with Argentine partners on products, commercial terms, and project progress, while Chen Siyu coordinated resources both domestically and internationally. Because of differences in language, work habits, and communication rhythms, some information needed to be re-interpreted for the local market after translation into Spanish. A phrase we often repeated was "let's double-check"—from vehicle specifications and event procedures to on-site display placements, we reviewed every link repeatedly to ensure that both Chinese and Argentine sides had a consistent understanding.
On the day of the event, faced with last-minute adjustments and on-site needs, we communicated with our Argentine partners in real time and quickly filled in where needed. Our local colleagues were warm and direct, while we placed more emphasis on advance planning—our different working styles gradually found their rhythm through repeated collaboration. This experience taught me that "partners" in overseas business are not only colleagues who complete tasks together, but also companions who help each other understand different cultures and grow together. Market development begins with products and projects, but it is the trust and cooperation between people that truly grounds everything.

Orders Are Earned One Trip at a Time, Even in Adversity
This photo was taken in front of our store in Abu Dhabi. Under the clear blue skies of the Middle East, our Middle East team from the Light Commercial Vehicles Overseas Business Division and local partners posed for a group shot in front of a Dongfeng VAN. Behind that frozen moment lay a full day of hustle and negotiation.
In the early stages of cooperation, the Middle East market breakthroughs faced no small challenges. To tackle these difficulties, we drove over 200 kilometers to meet with our partners for in-depth discussions.
In the morning, we worked with the after-sales and parts teams to sort out practical difficulties in parts supply and service support. Drawing on the company's existing service policies and parts systems, we jointly explored plans for overseas prepositioned parts warehouses and long-term support solutions, gradually establishing shared expectations for the service system.
In the afternoon, we entered into negotiations with our partners on new orders. Both sides weighed pricing, shipping risks, and market conditions layer by layer—it was a tough process. We explained the vehicle's advantages based on Middle East freight scenarios, while they offered suggestions on localized adaptation. After multiple rounds of communication, we ultimately secured the order.
Overcoming geographical distances and moving forward together amid market adversity—that day not only deepened our trust with our overseas partners, but also strengthened the bonds between my comrades and me, laying a solid foundation for the Light Commercial Vehicles business to take root in the Middle East.
—— Gao Fengjie & Li Bin, Light Commercial Vehicle Overseas Division
In Vietnam, We Turned the Unfamiliar into Tacit Understanding
My phone is filled with photos taken during market visits, capturing the moments—big and small—of my partners and me taking root on the front lines in Vietnam.
When we first arrived in Vietnam to develop Dongfeng truck business, cultural and regional differences posed considerable challenges. In our communications, we mixed Chinese, English, and Vietnamese, and had to repeatedly cross-check truck-specific terminology against reference materials. During downtime, we and our Vietnamese partners learned each other's languages, and the barriers gradually dissolved through this mutual exchange.
We seldom stayed in the office; most of our time was spent traveling between service stations, stores, and customer job sites. We listened face-to-face to customers' genuine feedback on vehicle performance and after-sales support, conducted on-the-ground surveys of mining road conditions, and followed up on the establishment of local after-sales service networks. At every stop, we took every conversation seriously, step by step identifying market needs and refining adaptation plans through repeated visits—advancing tractor promotions and building local after-sales networks one solid step at a time.
When we first entered the market, every kind of customer demand had to be patiently answered one by one. Through round after round of on-site visits and running-in, our Vietnamese partners came to understand Dongfeng products better and better, and we also figured out the characteristics of the local freight market; mutual understanding and trust deepened continuously through our cooperation.
One team, one goal, one Dongfeng. As we joined hands to overcome challenges, more and more Dongfeng trucks have come to ply the roads of Vietnam, and both the Chinese and local teams have grown together through collaboration. The road ahead is long, and we will continue to stand side by side, earning the trust of more Southeast Asian customers in Dongfeng trucks.
—— Chen Yifan & Wang Wei & Wang Xiaowei, Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle Overseas Division
Internationalization is not only about products going global and brands going deeper—it is also about one group of people going out and coming together with another.
Every step Dongfeng Import & Export has taken overseas has been inseparable from these frontline "cross-border partners."
Be Global, Be Partners—this, too, is being built up bit by bit through countless such connections.
Make Dongfeng World-renowned
