【辨析】　

collect，gather表示“搜集”“聚集”，二者有时可互换。

gather通常只表示把分散的人或物聚拢在一起，而collect则指有计划、有条理地为了某一目的而进行的较为精心的搜集，例如：He collects stamps.中的collects不可用gathers代替。
