导读:May Might Must 的区别和用法

May Might Must

Today, we are going to learn the use of three words, may, might, must.
今天,我们将学习三个单词的用法,may, might, must。
Yes, they are all modal verbs.

是的,它们都是情态动词。
We use them when we don't know something for sure.
我们在不确定具体情况的时候使用它们。
But their use is commonly confusing.

但它们的用法通常令人困惑。
First of all, the modal verbs “may”and
“might”are used to express that something is possible, and they are used both in the present and future tenses.
首先,情态动词“may”和“might”用来表示某事是可能的,它们可以用现在时和将来时。
In some instances, the two have no difference. Either modal verb can be used.
但在某些情况下,两者没有区别。其中任何一个情态动词都可以使用。
For example: It may be true. It might be true.

比如:这可能是真的。这可能是真的。
Here the two sentences have the same meaning.
这两个句子的意思是一样的。
Also, in some cases the two modal verbs may show different possibilities--may implies that there is a better likelihood or possibility of something happening than might does.

此外,在某些情况下,两个情态动词可能表示不同的可能性一 -may暗示某事发生的可能性或可能性比might更大。
Here is an example.

这里有一个例子。
I wonder why Kate didn't answer the phone. She might have been asleep.
我想知道凯特为什么不接电话。她可能睡着了。
I can't find my purse anywhere. Oh, I may have left it in the shop.
我到处都找不到我的钱包。哦,我可能把它落在店里了。
And the modal verb“must” is used to express obligation and necessity.
情态动词“must”用来表示义务和必要性。
e.g. A politician must be able to communicate.

例如:政治家必须善于沟通。
The debt must be paid in full.

债务必须全额偿还。
That is to say, “must”expresses a strong degree of certainty, when you are almost 100 percent sure about something.
也就是说,“must”表达了一种强烈的确定性,当你对某事几乎百分之百肯定的时候。
And what do we say if we are completely sure of something?
那如果我们完全确定某事,我们该怎么说?
Easy! Use “will”.简单!用“将要”。
The two shops will unite into one.这两家商店将合并成一家。
