In the Spring Festival holiday just past, SAIL GLOBAL had its special sailing courses at Qixing Bay in Shenzhen form 13th to 16th February. The coastal city is an ideal sailing base for its moderate weather especially in winter. Leaving out the pandemic travel restrictions, Shenzhen is also a great stopover for cruise as metropolis like Hongkong, Macau and Zhuhai are along the course of touring. With a high level of opening-up, Shenzhen is the target where SAIL GLOBAL was to extend sailing business and build up network.
The Trainees <<<<

And to go ahead with this approach, a combined ASA sailing course for the first two levels 1 and 2 was promoted before the Spring Festival holiday. Quickly first group of trainees were enrolled because doing a global certified sailing course in Shenzhen in english language is not that easy to find. But SAIL GLOBAL made it happen.

The group of students was unbelievably great. It was also the first time female trainees had outnumbered the male. Professor Dr.Gordana is from Croatia. Her Canadian husband Gerry is also a teacher, keynote speaker and business consultant.

The couple spent their Valentine’s Day on the sailboat, which is extremely romantic to start learning sailing together at their age, showing us the best example of love.

Ceci is an English teacher from UK, working in a well-known international school in Shenzhen.

Chinese born young entrepreneur Zijun with US passport is running her own business now here in China .
Practice on the Water <<<<

Later, when they met at the sailing base, there were 4 full days on the water to practice and learn all the necessary sailing skills for both levels. For example, raising the mainsail is one of the first steps in setting sail. Although usually a simple, easy process, beginners may experience snags if they’re not careful. The instructor Chris stood by side giving his instructions and trainees had to do do the work by themselves. It seemed a little bit challenging at the beginning but it is an effective way to grasp all the skills.
Beside the sailing skills, a lot of time was spent on docking and maneuvering under motor, which are the most difficult parts of sailing for beginners. The group was highly motivated to complete every session with strong interests and intense concentration. And the teammates were supportive to each other. Every time when one fulfilled a movement, others would genuinely burst forth cheer and praise.
What is fantastic was not only the sunny weather and good wind that had lasted 4 days on the water, but also the perfect sailing area. From coastal sailing in front of the marina up to sailing around off one of the many close-by islands, the group also enjoyed holiday leisure and joy they deserved.

One place is worth to mention was a floating restaurant where the group had lunch 2 times at one fisher village in the neighborhood. Docking the boat directly at the floating restaurant, it was of great experience and good feeling with fresh sea food on greenish water. This was for sure one of the highlights which reminded SAIL GLOBAL team of cruising days in Phuket before the pandemic.

Amid the training sessions, Franky, an old friend of SAIL GLOABL from Suzhou, visited the group on board with his friends. He had already completed ASA 104 in Sanya with SAIL GLOBAL last December.
To accomplish two sailing levels at one time is something that even Franky and other trainees hadn’t tried, it was quite impressive to find out everybody passed the tests for both levels and the group had a nice party to celebrate at the end of the 4 days.

Course Review <<<<
It has been great, training with Sail Global for my ASA101 & ASA103 from start to finish. The experience has left me wanting to learn more about sailing. I have surprised myself with the successful completion of both courses but that is down to the instructor, Christian who is very good at what he does with many years of experience behind him.

“OUR” 100+++ %Satisfaction with Christian and Jane of Sail Global. There may be many of you as individuals who have dreamt of learning how to sail. However, we as a couple recently completed our ASA 101 and 103 Certification from Sail Global and we would like to offer you an additional incentive to take this incredible sailing experience.
Learning how to sail is wildly exhilarating even if you are considering this for just yourself. Christian was an extraordinary coach (only surpassed by Jane who professionally organised everything else!)
However, if you also have a partner - or a friend - who is also interested in this extraordinary opportunity, we now know from our own experience that the deep bond you will share from this sailing experience will enrich your relationship for many, many years to come. So, “Feel It - Sailing” with Sail Global.

CONGRATULATION to all the sailors. They all had done an amazing job and we had built profound friendships in those days. Sailing in Shenzhen is really great with nice environment and good conditions here. It is for sure the right decision to focus more on this area and we look forward to our next events here.
Chris

It was a memorable sailing course in Shenzhen. Though the age of group members ranged from 71 to 28, everyone showed up the spirit as teammates and had a great time with each other. What sailing brings us is more than relaxation, passion and thrill. It offers a completely different lifestyle to explore the world and spend meaningful time alone or with loved ones. In the end, we’d like to share the beautiful sunset captured by our crew from the boat with you.
Only go through it in person, can you really get the feeling of being shocked and touched by nature. Sailing season is going to be open soon. See you on board then!
