You must be stunned by the crowded everywhere in China during the Golden Week holiday. Although the pandemic has not been totally under control yet around the world, Chinese has showed pretty much confidence in the achievements of disease defending war in the past 8 months. Have a look at the wine tasting cruise jointly held by SAIL GLOBAL and HEDONIA on 6th and 7th October. You will not deny that those people who were on board had made a better choice.
It was not a traditional wine tasting event but more a workshop about wine knowledge combined with sailing experience on a luxury catamaran. We planed the event on 6th October but all seats were booked in two days so we decided to do another round the next day which was also fully booked soon. It was a big success. Many people had joined the events asked us when the next event will be.

Matthieu is the wine tasting tutor of the event that was a combination of wine tasting and wine knowledge. We arranged four different wines for this event:
- Cava Divino Oro Brut (Spain)
- Petirrojo Sauvignon Blanc 2019 (Chile)
- Pike & Joyce Adelaide Hills Pinot noir 2019 (Australia)
- Château Pontet Bayard Puisseguin Saint-Emilion 2014 (France)
The format was very informal and interactive. First of all, to make everyone relaxed right from the beginning, we made a team-based game to practice nasal recognition of wine aromas, passing around 8 small bottles which show the smell of fruits, vegetables and other wine aromas.
Later on we talked about the process of wine tasting step by step and how to recognize the region of production, the grape varieties and the quality of the wine. The guests mentioned later on that the tips were very practical and they were very satisfied and excited about receiving all this information.
We offer attendees nice cold cuts like sausage, ham, cheese, fruits and French paté. They liked the food. There is seldom such wine themed sailing event in China, especially during the quite long Golden Week when people have no place to go but stay at home. That is why it was so welcomed among people who want to go out and have fun.

In the first day, it was done at night to appreciate the holiday lights of the city and in the second day we set sail in the afternoon and back after sunset. In the future, we are going to offer both, day and night events to meet the preferences of different people.
It was also very interesting to see so many different nationalities in the events. We had singles, families and kids as well. Of course, kids didn't taste the wines but they enjoyed the cruise and food.
We also had many couples. One couple even had their 11th anniversary for knowing each other. We prepared them a cake and celebrate with them together.

It seemed that everyone had a dream to take the helm and drive the boat. If you want to sail such a catamaran for your vacation, you have to start first with a ASA101 sailing courses on one of our J80 boats.
Speaking of ASA101 courses, there will be a new session at SAIL GGLOBAL Suzhou base on 23rd-25th Oct.. And experienced Captain Chris will be the instructor.
Discussions are also very interesting. We have talked a lot about sailing. Many were interested in the sailing facilities at our base and asked about the sailing workshops and team building opportunities. Many didn't know and were astonished that we operate here an international sailing club providing service with western management. Well, that is our motivation to offer more high quality events for our customers.
It was a very special experience for everyone. Learning wine culture while cruising on the lake is something unique and different from all other events, which they want to do again. They said even during the winter, as long as the weather is fine, it is possible to enjoy even though the temperatures will get cooler. If you are interested, there is going to be more choices of wine and growing international community waiting for you to be on board.
