King & Wood hosts Los Angeles Office Opening Reception
On May 19, 2026, King & Wood hosted the Los Angeles Office Opening Reception at the Langham Huntington Hotel, Pasadena with great success, welcoming clients and guests from across Southern California, alongside over 20 partners from the firm's China and North America offices.
Remarks were delivered by Peng Jing, Counselor for commerce at the Consulate General of China in Los Angeles; Ye Chun, President of the China General Chamber of Commerce – Los Angeles (CGCC-LA); Xu Ping, member of the firm's Management Committee and International Managing Partner; and Meg Utterback, North America Managing Partner. Counselor Peng encouraged the Los Angeles office to play a pivotal role in advancing China-US commercial engagement and advocating compliance-based development for Chinese businesses. Xu Ping reflected on the firm's growth and our unwavering commitment to internationalization. She also commented that, with a constantly evolving cross-border regulatory compliance landscape and growing complexities, the establishment of the Los Angeles office is a timely initiative in helping clients navigate risks, seize opportunities, defend their rights and stay the course.
The panel discussion that followed had four of our partners from the U.S. offices share insights on the practical challenges facing Chinese businesses in the United States.
Very strong support was received from CGCC-LA for the event, who helped bring together a broad representation of the Chinese business communities throughout Southern California.
The opening of the Los Angeles office is much more than a geographical expansion for the firm. It is yet another remarkable milestone in the course of our internationalization, and is in response to its clients' mounting demand for cross-jurisdictional services.
